DH will more than likely be open next year. Also, Moose is a pending FA after next year. They're not trading Moose unless they know for a fact he's gone and trading a young player who is proving himself is not wise. |

Tomorrow the Royals face the Cardinals and the scumbag, self-proclaimed "best fans in baseball".
Fortunately, Royals fans have until Wednesday to learn the pure sophistication of the double switch and strategical NL rules. Unfortunately, by Wednesday, St. Louis will still be the same down-trending, shit-hole city that it is, was, and always will be. Stay away from the east side now. |

I'd imagine that there will be a certain amount of rust he'll need to shake off, as he'll have gone the better part of the year without playing baseball. |

Plus, why would he want to go through a rebuild in KC, along with a new manager, when he could likely sign with a contender offering big bucks? |

It'll probably come down to whether or not some of these guys want to stay in one place and play together |

Meh, it's a good problem to have.
Cutty is filling the gap for Moose defensively, and is providing league average production at the plate. Let him play out the season, then when Moose is back next year fill him in a utility role. CC is 23 years old, there could be value there in the off-season if he has a nice year at the major league level. Also, with Dozier swinging at solid bat in AAA right now (.298/.352/.500), it just gives the Royals that much more margin for error come 2018 if he continues to improve like he has been. IMO, Cuthbert could be great trade-bait come this off-season. If the right deal comes along involving a starter, DM needs to take it. Pending on if CC can finish the year off strong. |

He can play 1B too, which is significant with Morales likely leaving. Wouldn't be surprised if he played some 2B this winter too.

Re: Cuthbert, he's a good defender at 3B and has been very steady at the plate. Good ABs, and he is on pace right now to be a 20-HR hitter.
If he continues to hit like this over the rest of the season, I think you go into next year with DH as a semi-open spot. Cuthbert gets maybe 100-110 starts at DH if he continues to hit, with The other 50 or so games being used to rotate guys through and keep them fresh. Don't forget Cuthbert was a huge sign out of Nicaragua ($2 million) and was on top 100 lists early in his minor league career. He struggled at A+ and higher, but it appears he came through them stronger. His walk rate right now is just 5 percent, but I think we see that come up once teams start respecting him a little more. He was always a 10 percent or so guy in the minors. He can be a big piece of the future in KC if this holds up (offensively). Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
