IMO he's thinking he has no shot against Lester tomorrow. Play for today and worry about tomorrow, tomorrow I guess.

The only thing you can do is put together a baseball team that does things well in a cost-efficient manner and hope things break right for you. The three Cardinal teams that I've seen win over 100 games won precisely zero games in the WS, while an 83 and a 90 win team won the WS.
