Royals officials were down there for pre-planned organizational meetings. Jay Alou is also Ervin Santana's agent, so they've already been talking...at least about him. We also know that the Royals have been actively scouting Tomas.
Who knows where it all ends up? Phillies, Padres? Royals? Tigers? |

It's either Padres, Phillies, or Royals. Were wild cards. But look what happened last time we were wild cards
Padres appear to be the favorite |

You have no idea who's really in on Tomas. Why wouldn't Detroit? Why not 10-12 other teams?
I really hope we get him, but I've got it at about 10%, and that might be high. |

On another note, I saw that the Braves announced they're going to move Gattis to LF.
I know we're defensive snobs here in KC, but that's laughable. Gattis belongs in the AL. |

I think KC should go 5/75. It gives Tomas the shorter deal he wants, still higher than Castillo to say he's highest paid Cuban player to defect, with him hitting FA at 29 years old.

If KC signs him, my guess is that it would be a 3-4 years deal with an average salary of somewhere around $15 million.
The bigger markets seem reluctant to do a shorter deal. I'd guess that KC's best shot is to have a shorter deal on the table that lets him hit FA at 27/28.

Could be my Sox....
@georgeofman: Look for White Sox to bid high for Cuban free agent Yasmany Tomas. Power corner outfielder who knows Abreu.

Yeah, White Sox make some sense too. Familiarity with Abreu could be big for him, as well as bigger market.
Unless he wants to join the AL Champions. |

Tomas's agent is scheduled to meet with 4 GM's. According to MLBTR, 3 of the 4 teams would have been seen as "very unlikely" before this week. So, I guess the Royals are probably one of them.
