Well, interesting draft. Comparing where I picked these guys against where they went in the real draft is pretty interesting. A few of the guys I got steals on in the mock (McCluster, Smith, Dickson, Thomas, Curran), and I completely bombed on others compared to where they were or weren't drafted (Lang, Brown, Jones, White, etc.).
All in all, this was fun to do, so thanks for letting me in it. Will be interesting to see how these guys perform for the next few years. Below, I have where I drafted them, and to the right of the player, I have listed what round and overall pick they actually went at in the NFL draft. Bengals 1 (21). Mike Iupati, G, Idaho (1-17) 2 (54). Reshad Jones, S, Georgia (5-163) 3 (84). Dexter McCluster, WR/RB, Mississippi (2-36) 4 (120). D'Anthony Smith, DT, Louisiana Tech (3-74) 4 (131). Ed Dickson, TE, Oregon (3-70) 5 (152). Brandon Lang, DE, Troy (Undrafted) 6 (191). Dezmon Briscoe, WR, Kansas (6-191) NAILED this one! 7 (228). Leigh Tiffin, K, Alabama (Undrafted) Panthers 2 (48). Demaryius Thomas, WR, Georgia Tech (1-22) 3 (78). Austen Lane, DE, Murray State (5-153) 4 (112). Rennie Curran, OLB, Georgia (3-97) 6 (175). Jarrett Brown, QB, West Virginia (Undrafted) 6 (202). Blair White, WR, Michigan State (Undrafted) 6 (204). Brandon Banks, KR, Kansas State (Undrafted) 7 (223). Jeff Byers, C/OG, USC (Undrafted) 7 (249). Nate Collins, DT, Virginia (Undrafted) |

In three years, I'm going to bet we wish the draft had fallen this way. 5. Eric Berry (R1/5th overall) 36. Jerry Hughes (R1/31st overall) 50. Chad Jones (R3/76th overall) 68. Mardy Gilyard (R4/99th overall) 102. Anthony McCoy (R6/185th overall) 136. Chris Scott (R5/151st overall) Hamas' picks: Jay Ross, Lindsay Witten, UDFA's. |

My Steelers draft started off ok, then the train came off the tracks, no player that I took after the 4th round getting drafted at all....oh well, it was fun!
(18) Rolando McClain, ILB, Alabama (went 8th overall) <---value of 10 slots (52) Amari Spievey, CB, Iowa (went 66th overall) <----reach of 14 slots (82) Torrell Troup, NT, Central Florida (41st overall) <----value of 41 spots (4) Dan LeFevour, QB, Central Michigan (went in 6th) <-----reach of 2 rounds (5) Vince Oghobaase, DE, Duke (ouch UDFA) <-----------------dont want to talk about the rest (5c) Micah Johnson, ILB, Kentucky (another one UDFA) (6) Antonio Coleman, OLB, Auburn (keeping the streak alive) (7) Derek Hardman, OT, Eastern Kentucky (you guessed it) (7c) Raphael Priest, CB, TCU (train wreck) ... My Falcons draft had its good moments and its bad ones. Overall it was pretty close to where the players went. (1,19) Sean Weatherspoon, LB, Missouri (BOOM!! Nailed it baby!!!) (3,83) Jacoby Ford, WR, Clemson (4,108) <-------reach by 25 picks (4) Syd'Quan Thompson, CB, California (7) <-------reach by 3 rounds, this kid is gonna be a good player for Denver, knowshit will let us know all about him (5) Anthony Dixon, RB, Mississippi State (6) <-------reach of 1 round (5c) Tony Moeaki, TE, Iowa (3) <------------value of basically 3 rounds (6) Thomas Austin, G/C, Clemson (7) <------reach or 1 round (7) Aaron Pettrey, K, Ohio State (UDFA) <-----we needed a kicker after Elams retirement, the kid is impressive. yeah, even with how bad my draft for them finished (as far as where they got drafted) I still got them three good starting players and a good quarterback if they choose to move on without Rothlisberger. At least a decent young stop gap.
and Angerer was over-drafted by the Colts. Remember our discussion about him when you said something like "I don't think I ever jumped out of my skin to pimp an undersized, slow linebacker" Seems that one of the best evaluating teams in the league agreed with me, even though me and the Colts evidently were the only ones. Same with Moeaki. Those two are gonna be really good players in the league. I may not have watched as much college ball as some on this site, but I am pretty spot on with the ones I have seen. |

Not sure why, you drafted a slot guy, a TE, and 2 safeties before getting a NT or a ILB. That alone equals FAIL, right? I mean look at the NTs and ILBs available when you ignored the only needs that matter, stuck to your board and went with Gilyard and Jones..... Cam Thomas, NT, North Carolina Torrell Troup, NT, Central Florida Linval Joseph, NT, East Carolina Jamar Chaney, ILB, Mississippi State Sean Lee, ILB, Penn State |

Had they taken Cody or Joseph in R2, I would have been fine with it. May not have agreed with it, but would have been fine with it. I addressed our biggest need, the pass rush. Daryl Washington was my pick at 50, but was taken a few spots ahead of me. There wasn't another ILB worth the pick at the time, IMO. Koa Misi would have been redundant after taking Hughes. In round 3, I had a decision to make. Sean Lee, who at the time (6 weeks ago) I felt was a solid R3 pick, or hope he falls and take the guy that solves BOTH the WR3 AND KR holes. Had Gilyard just been a slot guy, or just a KR guy, I probably would have went with Lee. I felt that if I missed Lee, that Chaney would be there at the top of R4. I was wrong, but I filled two spots with a 3rd round pick, versus Pioli filling both holes with both R2 picks. McCoy was a no brainer in R4 with Lee and Chaney off the board. He's a 2nd round talent that fell because he failed a drug test after we started the mock. And I didn't give up picks to get him, like Pioli did with Brokie Moeaki. Thanks for the reply. Like I said during our mock I'd take your draft in heartbeat since I'm a big believer in playmakers early and fat late. Just wanted a little clarification.
