It seems to me any realignment at this point would have to be triggered by somebody poaching the Big 12. Which would cause lots of chaos.

Here in Phoenix where behind these doors all the world's problems are being solved.

FWIW, I expect the Big 12 meetings will focus heavily on championship game. Despite Bowlsby comments last week, I sense lots of opposition

Dan Wolken @DanWolken · 8m 8 minutes ago
We will see how opinions on champ game evolve after they talk but going into meetings it seems like many ADs need to be convinced

Andy Staples @Andy_Staples · 31m 31 minutes ago
Bob Bowlsby said Big 12 ADs briefly discussed eight-game league schedule but preferred to stay at nine.

Andy Staples @Andy_Staples · 31m 31 minutes ago
Bowlsby said league probably shouldn't make drastic change (title game) based on one year of results.

Andy Staples @Andy_Staples · 29m 29 minutes ago
Bowlsby said he still feels like lack of a title game puts the Big 12 at a disadvantage, but he can't quantify that disadvantage.

Andy Staples @Andy_Staples · 28m 28 minutes ago
Basically, there doesn't seem to be a ton of support among the members for a championship game.
Since the Big X doesn't seem to have any desire to compete on a level playing field, the score here is obvious.

The Big X teams don't want to have to play a tough game and risk a loss of they are ever in position to have a playoff argument.

As we saw last year, the outcome is simple. A Big X team that wants a seat in the playoffs is going to have to be a game better than their competition from a major conference. You can't say a team with N wins deserves to be in over another team with N wins that won its conference title game. If Baylor or whomever wants to be chosen they are going to have to finish with a better record.

It is horribly shortsighted. Sure, a team that had a playoff argument might lose a conference title game and it would cost them, but by not having one the conference denies their team a chance at a win, a quality win, a chance to improve their SOS/computer rankings/whatever. They take away a chance for a team that is truly good enough to bolster their resume.

Practically a Big X team will need to be undefeated without a title game because there will be enough 0 and 1 loss teams that won title games to keep the Big X shut out.

KU landed some tackle who used to play at mizzou. Harneet Gill I think his name is. Sixth offensive lineman Beaty has signed to Kansas since becoming head coach.

The jealousy shown by MU fans is too much sometimes...

Both Schlabach and McMurphy have TCU in the title game.

Charlie Strong's Louisville recruits landed 10 spots in this year's NFL draft.

Scary what he's going to do at Texas.

So we are completely doing away with the charade that you're above rooting for conference, at this point. Right?

Not at all. I'm nervous how good this is going to make Texas over the next decade or so.

I'm concerned with who my team plays. And they play Texas every year.

National Championship caliber teams are a special thing and something that 99.9% of college football fans don't have to concern themselves with. If it happens great, if not you're concerned about what your school does in your conference.

That's why teams who never win and root for teams in their conference (cough, cough..the SEC) confuse most college sports fans. If you're not getting a trophy why would you trumpet up your conference?

Sure. Someone believes that tripe. It's not me, and it's not you, but someone, somewhere does.

Well, you've never beat them as a member of the Big 12, so it looks like business as usual. If you're worried about Charlie, just be thankful they didn't land Saban like you claimed they were going to.

Charlie took over an underachieving 8-5 team that lost no players to the NFL and coached them up...to 6-7...a season that was capped off by a humiliating performance against Arkansas that saw them gain only 57 total yards of offense (2 yards rushing on 18 carries).

Frankly, it may have been the worst coaching performance by a coach named Charlie...no small feat.

Well, Texas might have a hard time recruiting like they used to, since they aren't the premier program in the state anymore.

Wow.

Texas had a winning record in the Big 12, but they were 1-3 out of conference. Their only win was against a North Texas Mean Green team that went 2-6 in CUSA.

Bambi, I hope this sets your mind at ease.
