Your own manager was calling out your fans last September for not showing up to games in the middle of a playoff race.

(Maybe that was late August, I don't remember the exact date.)

It's especially hilarious to see them try and make fun of Royals fans for not being 100% behind a team that was the worst ran franchise in professional sports sans MAYBE the Clippers.

Yeah, Cards fan! You go! Must be really tough to acquire great players like Matt Holiday and have to root against them for not being "clutch" and terrible managers like Tony LaRussa! I can't fathom it. I sure hope the Royals go back to losing so I don't have to eventually become so jaded by always winning I have to make shit up to cheer against.

So picking a particular player on your team to like is the same as ignoring your team outright until they win a pennant?

Yeah, those seems similar.

I guess Cards fans should have been snapping up those Freese jerseys when he was a prospect for the Padres...

I'm sure there were avid Patriots fans in the 80s and 90s just THOROUGHLY enjoying their franchise before Tom Brady. The owner didn't want to move them away or anything. Nope! Those Pats fans were always just great fans!

Say what you want about Royals fans ... but let's not pretend Cards fans get to play the "omg so loyal!" card. Their team wins every year. Every year. Frazod turned off playoff games because Holliday would make him mad.

Boy you fellas just can't get that chip off your shoulders, can ya?

I'm sure Cardinals fans were so concerned with a perennial 100 loss squad in the American League that they were just constantly all up in your grills, eh? Must have been a difficult time for the 18,000 people coming to the ballpark most nights.

Congrats on finally breaking into the top 10 in attendance in the American League for the first time in 20 years. Every Royals fan I talk to ensures me that he was there all along...

No the David Freese reference is because of his World Series hits. Which is exactly the same bandwagon shit happened with the Cardinals that happened with the Royals last year. One of so called perks of winning.

The Patriots had a Superbowl appearance in the 80's and the 90's, dipshit.

Exactly the same?

Cardinals fans didn't join a bandwagon - the support for the team has been exceptional throughout it's history. Backing a player who won a championship for a team you already supported is a far cry from showing up after 2 decades of ambivalence and crowing about a team you gave zero ****s about mere months ago.

The last time the Cards were outside of the top 8 in their league in attendance was in '97.

1897.

When the brewery was trading HoF players like Steve Carlton in the '70s over a few thousand dollars, Cardinals fans were still backing their team. It's just so disingenuous to try to claim that this was just because they win.

Sure, the Cards haven't always drawn 40K/gm but even at their worst they were still in the top half of baseball's attendance. It's a generational thing and yes, it is absolutely a cultural thing. The city of St. Louis identifies itself in large part by its baseball team - Kansas City does not. There's also just silly stuff like the fact that the Cards had the best reach by radio of any team in the nation when KMOX was pumping at its highest in the 50s.

Win, lose or otherwise, the Cardinals fans have always been there. That said - that doesn't make them inherently more noble. It does mean, however, that they're significantly less inclined to take shit from some idiot screaming MOOOOOOSE in their ear who didn't know what a double play was 24 months ago.

my friends' parents are all Steelers and Packers fans ...

wanna know why?

The Steelers and Packers were good when they were kids. Oh, and they of course are Cardinals fans.

The Cards have been the best franchise in the NL forever.

I repeat .. must be really tough to be a fan of the Cards.

You know, said no one ever.

I'd like to see the Cardinals go through ONE DECADE of last place finishes, selling all of their good players, going cheap on draft and international signings ...

and then we'll see how "loyal" you guys really are
