Want to undergo a maddening obsession to see the next season of BB RIGHT EFFING NOW?
Feast your eyes. Proud to say my parents [your typical CBS procedural demo] got hooked this spring when they visited and I insisted they take a look at the show. Watched the first two episodes here. Gave them my DVD sets, they burned through them in under a month, stocked up the most recent season on their DVR and were soon asking me 'when's that coming back again?' Pops is the same way with GoT, mom less so, though she does watch, just with a little more squeamishness.

I'm about 4 episodes into season 4....trying to get caught up for the last 8 episodes. It took me a bit to get into it. Pretty much from the events surrounding the plane crash on I've been binge watching. Probably eight episodes watched over the weekend. Damn, what a show.

Just caught up. This show is strange for me. I love so much about it, and yet, the things I don't like about it are so maddeningly in my face all the time. I liked watching the real Walter emerge, but I really hate every female character on this show. They are so stereotypical and poorly written.
The show creator calls anyone who doesn't like Skylar a misogynist, and maybe anyone who thinks she is a nag and shrew is a misogynist, but I don't like her, or Marie, or Wendy, or any of Jesse's women, or his mother, not one. I don't like them because they are uninteresting terrible characters not because I think I have to actually "like" characters. Some of my favorite characters are ones I don't like (Jaime Lannister.) Skylar has gotten a little more interesting of late, but I rarely believe any of her motivations. I believe the character was meant to be smart enough to challenge Walter, but I don't think she is, and that is bad writing. How they write Walter, Jesse, Hank, Gus, Hector, and all the other really interesting male characters so well and miss so massively on the female characters is kind of a mystery and has kept my from truly enjoying this show. Still can't wait to see how it wraps up though. |

Skylar has always been my least favorite aspect of the show.

I liked Skylar early in the show, but I grew to greatly dislike her with the way she handled her unhappiness with Walt. I understand why she was pissed, but I feel that if she loved her kids as much as she claims to love them she would have just turned Walt in, even if it meant having Walter Jr. hate her. Instead, she tried to walk an impossible tightrope that made her still look like a bitch while her family was still in danger.
