Watching the 84 Lakers/Celtics game 7 is there is a lot of bad basketball being played. These guys struggled to handle the ball and shoot. Both teams had holes. Kurt freaking Rambis played the 4 for these Lakers. I'm not sure any of them had seen a weight room.

I think we tend to romanticize a past that just wasn't so.

This Cavalier's team is a very good basketball team. And it would've given the 96 Bulls everything they could handle. Ultimately Rodman's strength in the paint would've likely been the difference, but that would've been a 7-gamer, IMO. And if Kyrie could do a credible job of at least annoying MJ on defense (he has the athleticism to stay in front of him), the Cavs could've maybe taken it.

I think it's a valid question and honestly, I'd probably take this GS team over any comers. It's an incredible team.
The '96 Bulls would've won more than 1 game against this team. No doubt in my mind.

It's the best team ever though.

But yeah, I think they could have easily won a championship without Love and been good enough to win multiple.
Wiggins is nothing and they don't win last year with out that deal.

I know I'm older than most of you guys but this 30 for 30 about the Celtics/Lakers is fantastic.

It's hard to compare the eras, because the rules were different back then and favored the defenses. I think the the Bulls from 96-98 (and maybe the 91-93 teams) would have beaten the GS teams without Durant, especially if they were allowed to play the same type of defense from back then with arm-guards and hand-checks. This year's team would have given the Bulls problems with Durant. It would have been very interested to see what kind of schemes Phil Jackson would have come up with to stop Golden Stater.

That being said, those Bulls teams would have wiped the floor with Cleveland.

The Cavs almost won 3 years ago without Kyrie and Kevin Love. If not for the trade, the Cavs would have had Wiggins, $10M in extra cap space to find an extra player, and 5 trade chips: Anthony Bennett (at the time, a viable trade pick), Tyler Zeller (a cap casualty to afford Love), 2 first rounders, and Miami's 2015 first rounder. That is a trade for 4 or 5 players who could have provided much needed bench depth.

It also wouldn't have forced Cleveland to reach on trade chips to get Mozgov which essentially bankrupted the Cavs of picks.

It's true that it's all hypothetical. At least they won last year with Love. But they had so many chips for this team to have been deep, and in years 1 and 3, that's easily where they lost the biggest. The Cavs' second team got annihilated by the Warriors' which was a huge difference maker.

It really isnt though. Remember, this is the Basketball Hall of Fame, not the NBA Hall of Fame.

Forget about what he may or may not accomplish in the future. Lets look at what Draymond has already accomplished.

* First Team All-American
* Big Ten Player of the Year
* First Team All-Big Ten
* 2x Third Team All-Big Ten
* 2x NBA Champion
* Olympic Gold Medalist
* 2x NBA All Star
* Second Team All-NBA
* Third Team All-NBA
* 2x NBA All-Defensive First Team

He is about to add a Defensive Player of the Year award and another All-Defensive First Team.

Draymond is getting very close to being a lock to be a Hall of Famer. You can try to downplay his 9 points and 7 rebounds a game all you want. When all is said and done, when that list that I just wrote out doubles in size, you will see Draymond in the Hall. Its not nearly as hard to believe as you are making it sound.

The Cavs were tailor made for the '96 Bulls. Rodman could shut down Love and guard LeBron in the post, Ron Harper would harass Kyrie constantly, and Pippen is the greatest perimeter defender who ever lived, and he would he hound LeBron even worse than Kawhi does, and eat up Irving on the outside.
