Actually you can't really say that with validity. If the Chiefs still had that pick it could have changed the draft mentality of all the teams. You can't say that with total surety anymore than I can say that he wouldn't have been there.

Add 16 turnovers, and it's entirely possible that the Chiefs would be 3-5. Only the most loyal Geno ballwashers don't understand that. |

I picked Geno because in the end I think Geno will be a top 10-12 QB in the NFL for a decade, so in the big picture view I picked having a top level QB for a decade over an 8-0 start to a season with possibly 1 playoff win. So yeah give me the QB to build around over a good regular season for 1 year. Of course that's always been the problem with Chiefs fans as this poll clearly shows. They love that short term gratification of regular season wins over the few years of growing pains developing a QB that can take them to the next level down the line. I also don't think it's just a "Geno" thing. I'm sure the poll would yield similar results if the questions was "Would you rather be 2-5(like the Redskins) with RG3 or would you rather be 8-0?" FWIW I'd also rather be 3-5 with Tyler Bray gaining experience knowing the payoff could be huge for the next 10-15 years. Last edited by BigCatDaddy; 10-29-2013 at 07:09 AM.. |

8-0 with Alex Smith and Tyler Bray learning from the sidelines is a thousand times better than whatever record Geno Smith would have with us this year. Alex gets the lead every week in the first half and then gets very conservative with his throws and lets the defense dominate and force mistakes. That's a winning formula. Sure he could take chances in the second half of games to extend the lead but why would he. Andy and Alex plus this defense will break our string of 1st round playoff losses this year.

It's not a strategy. Reid likes short passes and YAC. Pretty soon, that lead will no longer be good for a half. |

Your a idiot. Get me Andrew luck and I will take the growing pains as they come. Give Andy Reid and company more than just one draft before u think our new regime will never look at drafting a qb again. They just traded for Alex they weren't going to draft a qb in the early rounds again like the 49ers and say we brought u in to be a stop gap.

See, we have no way of knowing how would have turned out, but it is fun to discuss. I love being 8-0, we have been here before. But there is no way I am going to allow myself to get as high about it as I used to. It was a long hard fall after 95, 97 and 03. If they win a playoff game there is nobody going to be any happier about it than me. Also, I still don't believe for a minute that Andy Reid was allowed to draft a QB and I stand by that. The record is what it is, no 1st round QB drafted in 30 years, with an endless trail of reasons. |

That is what the poll is asking. If you picked the Geno answer then you would rather be 3-5 right now instead of 8-0.

Actually I didn't vote in the poll, as I stated in my first post in this thread I don't agree with the 3-5 scenario at all. But is however a worthwhile discussion.

On the other hand, the team is on their 4th 49ers QB among the very long list of others during that time frame. Anyone that believes that is coincidence needs to come talk to me about this bridge I have for sale. It is what it is, and we need to just enjoy it for what it is. Call it the Todd Blackledge/Lamar Hunt rule. |
