Same goes for the home mortgage. Sure, if you're just going to stuff the cash in a mattress then pay off the debt. But if your rate is 5% and your ROI in the market is 20% /yr averaged over the life of the loan well you just earned a nifty 15% on money that otherwise would have gone in the can.

The only debt one should rush in an "at all costs" fashion to pay off is credit card debt. Christ, right now if got an ARM home loan your rate is actually lower than it was 3 years ago.

I know you like to fellate yourself from atop your high horse for your financial "savvy" but stop being a dick about it because the bottom line is throwing money out the window because you've assigned some misguided evil to debt is reeruned.

I work for my money then I make my money work for me. Bam.

My guitar still costs more than your car and I've still got more cabbage in the couch cushions than you earn in 2 years.
P.S. you are not making 10% in a money market account, YOU may be making 10% in a ponzi scheme called a money market account.

Give me the name of that bank and a phone number, I will call them Monday

I have $195,430 in the bank. I have purchased all the guns, accessories and perks I need. I don't plan on prestiging again...so I won't lose all my monies. Bad idea, especially when you never know when some awesome contract will come out.

I use coupons whenever I see one. Does that make me evil? I'm only 25 and someday I might need that extra money.

You're an odd cookie, R8ers. I've never seen someone so in need of justifying his financial decisions to others.

Damn right I am odd, as a matter of fact odd enough that I live financially the way 98% of America does not....

I would much rather be "Odd" than up to my ass in debt and trying to justify spending money I don't have.

It's not so much your financial philosophies that I find odd - it's your combative nature about it. You don't really seem to be as interested in having a debate about it so much as you're looking to berate people for not agreeing with your philosophy.

I know that you're somewhat "backed into a corner" on this one since you're clearly in the minority, but I just don't get what personal benefit you're getting from this crusade. Are you legitimately trying to help people? If so, you won't get very far by being so condescending to people about it. Do you just get some sort of gratification from berating people? I don't know about that one. Seems odd, but possible. Are you insecure with your own financial decisions and compensating by being aggressive about it? I find this to be the most likely, but I don't know you.

I mean, christ man, you make assumptions about others' financial well-being that are clearly not true. You've assumed this entire time that I'm some idiot kid that has no idea what he's talking about, to the point that you wanted to see my (and others') credit card statements. Does that not seem weird to you? Hell, some people won't even provide financial information like that to ANYONE, let alone some random guy on the internet.

I just don't get it is all. You have your philosophies, others have theirs. Why do you feel the need to carry on about it constantly?

(These are all rhetorical questions, so don't feel the need to necessarily respond. As I mentioned, I just don't understand. THAT is why I think you're odd.)

I've actually come to get along fairly well with R8ers. I think I just write this off as one area where he can more effectively play the part of a rival troll. If he really is trying to "help" people on here, he needs to realize that people's financial needs should be approached the same way as religion (IMO). When someone feels they need help, they will seek advice. Also, whenever they do, if you berate them for their current situation/belief/decisions right from the start (or before they even ask for help), you're not someone who anyone is going to want to talk to about it. At least not in an objective or constructive manner.

Weren't you the same guy who swore you payed off all your credit cards ever month and then posted that you had a previous balance of 2500 from the last month?

For every excuse you justify yourself carrying debt I am going to tell you why you are wrong just as you try to tell me I am wrong on most of my views....

The guys who admit they are in debt and want out are the ones I am trying to help here, the trolls the wall street tycoons you can't say anything to anyway....

Instead of the whining and complaining, why don't people just avoid the thread?
