Peyton Manning to visit Denver TONIGHT to meet with Donks

Peyton Manning will be in Denver tonight visiting with the Broncos, according to two NFL sources.

This is getting serious, folks.

Manning, arguably the most decorated free agent in NFL history, has the Broncos on his short list. The long-time Indianapolis Colts quarterback was released earlier this week amid concerns about his neck, a $26 million bonus payment and the team's opportunity to select highly prized quarterback Andrew Luck with the No. 1 pick in the upcoming NFL draft.

Manning, 36, has been cleared to throw by his neck specialist, Dr. Robert Watkins. One NFL source said Manning will also visit the Arizona Cardinals and Miami Dolphins after visiting with the Broncos. A source said Manning would like to make a decision by Tuesday, the first day of free agency.

The Broncos' top brass of John Elway, coach John Fox and general manager Brian Xanders, are currently in Stillwater, Okla., watching the Oklahoma State Pro Day workout that features quarterback Brandon Weeden.

The Broncos have the No. 25 pick in the draft, plus the 25th selection in the second round. Weeden, who turns 29 in October, is considered the second-best passer to Luck in the draft and has been projected to go between the Broncos' top two picks.

Manning will turn 36 in two weeks.

I'm not a Kietzman fan...but he's not an Athan guy (that's the 610, guys). I think this has nothing to do with Athan...but I'm still skeptical until I see some sort of confirmation out of 1 Arrowhead Dr.

Well, if it's true Manning has already visited here and has been offered a contract (I don't buy it), then I think it bodes well for us that it was kept such a secret. Everywhere else he's been so far has been a god damn media circus. Makes us look a lot classier imo, but then again, I don't believe it.

Broncos' Pat Bowlen willing to spend for Peyton Manning

Whether or not the Broncos can close the deal with Peyton Manning remains to be seen.

Rest assured, money will not be an issue, according to an NFL source.

Broncos owner Pat Bowlen is prepared to do whatever it takes to land Manning, the highly prized free-agent quarterback who is flying with the team's football bosses of John Elway, John Fox and Brian Xanders to Denver for an visit.

Bowlen took a redeye flight late last night from his Hawaii residence and is at his Dove Valley headquarters office awaiting Manning's arrival.

The Broncos do have the financial resources and salary cap room, the source said, and are willing to do what it takes to sign Manning.

Bowlen was perhaps a bit spoiled by having five Super Bowl appearances and two Super Bowl titles through his first 15 seasons as Broncos owner. He has since been frustrated that his team has won only two playoff games and made no Super Bowl appearances in the past 13 seasons.

Although Tim Tebow just led the Broncos to their first AFC West title and playoff victory since the 2005 season, Bowlen said after his team's second-round blowout defeat at New England: "Not a bad season but not a great season, either. I want a great season."

Someone should tell this Athan-lite moron that Manning is going to Arizona TONIGHT. It's not lasting a while, and Mortensen is saying that Manning has made it clear to all teams that no contract negotiations will take place.
