Tyshawn Taylor to be drafted by the Bulls tonight?

Report: Bulls will select Tyshawn Taylor at No. 29
CHICAGO BULLS, DERRICK ROSE, NBA DRAFT | COMMENTS

While nearly every NBA team is scrambling to make trades and assess what player will be available when they’re on the clock, the Chicago Bulls seemed to have already settled on their choice at No. 29.

According to NBC Sports’ Vin Parise, the Bulls will be taking point guard Tyshawn Taylor in tonight’s draft.

Vin Parise@VinParise
According to league sources, the Chicago Bulls are drafting Tyshawn Taylor from Kansas tonight with the 29th pick -- backup for Derrick Rose
28 Jun 12 ReplyRetweetFavorite
Taylor helped the Jayhawks to the national title game in April and averaged 16.6 points and 4.8 assists last season. The senior was expected to be a high second round pick, and the Bulls are targeting him early for his assistance in the backcourt.

Derrick Rose is still recovering from an ACL tear he suffered in the first round of the Eastern Conference playoffs against the Philadelphia 76ers. He’s expected to return in mid-January or February, but the explosiveness that helped him win the 2011 NBA MVP may not have returned by then.

Earlier in the week, forward Luol Deng acknowledged rumors that the Bulls may trade him in order to gain a lottery pick.

I am pumped for next season and the team coach Self has assembled.

...but with the incoming talent we have coming in, I am strangely most excited to see what EJ has in the tank. I feel he turned the corner in the tournament last season and started to show flashes of just how dominant he could potentially be on the court.

I think EJ has a breakout year and surprises a lot of the national media.

EJ was getting a LOT of pub last year.

What I'm worried about is replacing TT's production. A huge amount of the offense went through TT, and not a lot of people, even fans, didn't seem to notice and focused on the turnovers. EJ contributed a lot last year, but there is no way he can contribute both his share and TTs. There is going to have to be a tremendous amount of production from some n00bs.

Well you don't replace TT and TRob with two new guys, that kind of production has to be spread around the entire team. I think EJ will continue his upward trend. I'm more concerned how the new young guys fit in and adapt. Going to Europe this summer will definitely help that endeavor.

We'll be different, but Bill will adapt the game to the players, and not expect the players to adapt to the game. He knows what we have, our strengths, and weaknesses.

I say our chances of reeling in #9 are 50/50.

Id like to believe that he will be but to be the 5th pick in the draft next year? Very doubtful. Would be a huge jump for a kid being ranked around 35 out of HS and his first year of ball. I don't think you will see many mocks with him on the draft board next year let alone a lotterry pick. Its possible but probably a little too much to expect.

We won't have the same kind of scoring imbalance as last year obviously. I think the leading scorer will be in the 10-15 point range with a bunch of guys around 8-10 a game. Next year's team is going to win most of it's games because of D rather than flat out filling it up. I foresee a lot of games in the 50's and low 60's and you know what? Who cares! A win is a win!

Well, the bottom line is that is a pissload of production. And in order to not fall off too hard, we can't have any duds out there. No Brady morningstars, Kevin Youngs. They have to be closer to the 08 team where everybody contributes.

I agree, certainly, the leadership has to come from the seniors, but we're going to have to have some freshman unafraid to defend their man as well as put the ball through the basket.

Concur. though freshmen tend to foul frequently.

It should be fun to see the freshmen. Personally I'm looking forward to see Ellis.
