Human sexuality is a spectrum with a majority of the population falling on the straight half of the spectrum but not on the 100% always straight pole. It is hard to really tell though as culture is a very large factor. Ancient Greece and Rome would have more gay people to us as it was more culturally accepted, though most of those gay persons would also have wives and children.

For some bizarre reason, this reminded me of a fascinating study involving monkeys. Researchers gave monkeys "money" (a metal token similar to a coin) and taught the monkeys they could use the tokens to buy food. They had different foods with different "costs" (in tokens) and wanted to see how the monkeys behaved in different situations. They got a daily allotment of tokens. Would they save them? Carry them over from one day to the next?

They then introduced gambling to see how they would react and what they would do. They also created different situations to see how they would react and what they would do.

And the thing I really remember -- it wasn't long after they introduced "money" that a male monkey "paid" a female monkey a token to give it up. Thus, monkey prostitution was created.

Yes. Typically don't eat at least 4 hours before and make sure to completely wash a couple hours in advance.

I think it's a fair assessment. I have been in small groups of 10-15 people where I'm the only homo. But in larger groups I find there is at least one other. That's not to say there aren't curious or bisexuals in the mix but as far as only home I think the numbers are right.

I assume everyone I meet in Hollywood/Los Angeles is gay, which is something I learned more than 23 years ago, after inadvertently and innocently (and I checked beforehand) embarrassing myself. I'm still embarrassed.

"Overtly" gay men and women (for lack of a better word) aren't an issue but IME, I've known plenty of gay men throughout the years that I wouldn't have identified as gay having met and had conversations with, sometimes at great length.

I would say the ratio, in our circle, is closer to 3/4 in 10, not one in 10.

Why would a gay guy learn to play guitar?

Learning to play guitar is very hard, but not as hard as chasing women. If you can play guitar, you will have to run from women and won't have any time to chase them. Or maybe things have changed since I've paid attention to that sort of thing.

It seems like a whole lot of work for nothing if you don't want women chasing all over you.

I wish everybody could play guitar. The whole world would be just one big getting together, counting it off and come out playin' place.
