I don't think Anderson's system is conducive to winning against elite teams. They are never going to be able to handle teams that have either a preeminent point guard or a dominant low post presence. Those also happen to be the things that almost every top level team has at least one of.

To run the system and have it succeed, you'd need the following:

PG: Preferably north of 6'3
SG: 6'5 or taller
Swing man: 6'7 or taller
F: 6'8-6'10
PF: 6'9

All players would have to have extremely long arms, and four of the five, if not all five, need to be able to handle the ball and have 15' range.

Cincy doesn't have terribly great guard play, but they showed what you can do to a small team that presses. Bring a third man into the back court and you spread the defenders out far enough that you can pass over their arms.

Another thing that hurts us from a recruiting perspective is that we expend so much energy on the defensive side of the ball that even premier players aren't going to play much more than 28-30 MPG.

PG: Tiller, 6'3
SG: Taylor, 6'4
G: Lawrence, 6'7
F: Carroll, 6'8
F: Lyons, 6'9

And every person in that starting five could handle the ball, save Lawrence.

Look at tonight's team:

PG: Dixon, 6'1
SG: Denmon, 6'3
G: English, 6'6
F: RatCliffe 6'6
F: Bowers, 6'8

And Bowers is the only one you would call "long".

We HAVE to get rid of that "Fastest 40 minutes" bullshit. Our offense has no ****ing organization and it looks like reeruns playing playground basketball out there. Organize the offense and we might do something. And we're also extremely short. Ricardo is our best big man and he's not even that big. He's the height of a 2 guard. Its pathetic.

And while we're at it, change the ****ing defense. Full court press doesn't work anymore. Once the teams go over halfcourt its like our players don't know who to guard anymore. That's why there so many open jumpers.

All in all, I think the systems we run hurt us much more than the personell. We might not have great players, but put average players in a bullshit system and they'll look like shit.
