I'm Done Drinking

Usually at sporting events(Chiefs-Royals-Brigade games) me and friends usually tailgate and get pretty smashed before the games... We've always gotten plastered before bowling tournaments also...

But; I just don't find it fun anymore... I don't enjoy getting all screwed up and not having fun while inside watching the games... My bowling this year has gone to hell in a hand basket... I bet I've won half the money I did last year... I didn't use to drink during tournaments, but here lately I've induldged in quit afew...

I don't drink at home, and I bet I've been out to a bar maybe 5 times in the last 10 years... So; I know I don't have a drinking problem... I just have a "sports" drinking problem...

April is a big month... We're heading to Springfield to bowl in a pretty big tournament... The guys going with me are party fools !!!! I think I'll be designated driver that weekend !!!!

Anyone else on here just seem to drink mostly during sporting events and not at home ???

This thread reminds me of the Simpsons where Homer flashed back to when he and Barney were kids and they had a wreck with their bikes or something.

"And we never drank again."

Vendor at ballpark: "Beer, here!"

Homer: "Ill take ten."

I'll have a couple about once a week if I am out with friends, but I haven't had beer in my house for a couple of years now. It's exceedingly rare that I actually get drunk anymore.

I've always felt drinking at games is a waste of time and money. That's what bars and/or one's home is for. What is the point of getting hammered on massively overpriced shitty beer and then spending half the game in line to piss? I drive 500 miles to watch a game at Arrowhead - I'm not spending any more time in the john than I have to.

Well you have mentioned a couple times you don't want to hurt someone or yourself for that matter. Kudos to you for that.

I unfortunately couldn't accept I had a problem, went to the Oregon Dunes with my buddies like we do every year @ Thanksgiving. I chased one who had just sprayed me with sand over a 40 ft. "widow's peak" and clipped his bike with my Banshee ripping the handlebars out of my hands and it threw me face first onto the tank breaking my back and pinching my spinal cord.

I don't have to tell you everything I lost. But I will say alcohol will never be a part of my life again. Funny thing, I mentioned to them I didn't want to go out cause I thought I had too many.

Good Luck with your decision.

I used to drink regularly enough until I went to a double-header sports event a couple years ago, and ended up so drunk that I thought it would be a good idea to sneak onto the field and go hang out by the team bench. After I was escorted out of the stadium, I managed to sneak back in through a service entrance and find my seat where my wife was, where I promptly passed out until the end of the game.

I had a good laugh at myself in the wake of that event, but I came to the realization that I am far too unpredictable when I am that drunk. And since I have an issue where the more drunk I get, the more drunk I want to get, I decided that I must avoid getting drunk altogether.

I still drink, but moderation is definitely the key for me. I average about a beer a day, which works for me because I love the taste of beer. Especially Northwest Microbrews. The most beer I'll have in a sitting is usually three... except on a special occassion, where I'll permit myself a six pack or more depending. If I'm sitting around a campfire with the fellas, forget it, I'm getting hammered. But if I'm in public, I'm moderating myself.

I wouldn't mind having a couple while I bowl... I'm just tired of getting sloshed, and thinking I'm bowling pretty shitty when in fact it's the beer...

There really is some sports that you participate in that takes alot of concentration... I've never fell down or barfed while bowling --- and I don't plan on it either...

This Monday night will be the start of something new...

SOBER BOWLING !!!

I think the same will apply also when I'm at a Royals or Chiefs game... I don't think theres much sense in not knowing what's going on for most of the game...

Like one poster said --- give me a campfire and I'll get smashed... Even a float trip is a good time to party... But; being in the public eye and making a fool out of myself is not going to happen...

Plus --- there's big money to win in Springfield in April...

Have I told you about the time I was in the restroom when Willie Wilson hit an inside the park home run?

I'm a happy drunk, so getting totally smashed was about the only thing that got me through that last playoff game. Though I did let a few "

I have done just about every known drug in my lifetime. I use to binge drink at "events".

I finally realized that altering your mind to the point that the enjoyment of the event is lessened is just plain stupid. And if you need to drink yourself into a major drunk to enjoy yourself wellllll its look in the mirror time.
