Shawn Barber=Big disappointment

Seriously, I mean wtf is up with this guy? I watched the last MNF game against the Ravens, the first run by Jamal Lewis, pitch for an 18 yard gain, he got faked out badly. then on one of the Ravens drives, it was a 3rd down and 21 situation, one of the Ravens receivers ran a curl pattern, caught it and ran right after the catch, Barber had an attempt to make the tackle, and with little to no effort, made a slight push to force the runner out of bounds. Sure enough, McCleon had to come in and make the saving tackle to prevent a first down.

Lets also go back and mention the Denver game. Griffin's 47-yard run, guess who's fault that was? Barber. Out of position to make a play, got faked out again trying to cover a screen pass. Deshawn Foster's run, same result Barber just being out of place to make a play. If this guy keeps screwing up, should he ride the bench? What do you guys think? I mean, I know he's screwing up, but, he seems like he is not even trying at all. Barber stinks right now, and bad!

I'd just like to add that after the playoff game last year most were convinced Barber was the only person on the team that could play a lick of defense.

When was the last time the Chiefs signed a FA that was fairly big dollars for their position that played really well?

Holmes certainly has played well but he probably falls more into a middle tier signing dollar-wise for his position.

I'm currently running the bigger name FA signings through my head from Big Fat Chet, Clemons, Morton, Perriman, Crockett, Barber etc.etc and damn near everyone of them I can think of has been pretty poor.

Only guys I can think of that have met or exceed expectations in the CP era is Holmes, Hasty and McCleon. McCleon doesn't belong on the same list as Holmes and Hasty but I think it is fair to say he has at least played upto expectations.

Anyone think of any other good ones?
I thought Joe and Marcus were probably pretty good pick-ups...

Hush, we want to bitch about Barber during the off week. Last year doesn't matter, it is all about these last 4 games.

Geez, get with the program.

Didn't we trade a 1st rounder for Joe? I believe that pick was used for Stubblefield by the 9ers if memory serves me.

Like it or not, Shawn Barber is playing because there isn't anyone better than him at his position on our roster. If there was, Barber would be on the bench. Yes, Barber misses a lot of tackles. Yes, he often overruns the play. And yes, we are in LB'er hell...................

Barber has looked very good at times, but that seems outweighed by the times he just sucks. I would have to guess that he has lost a step and is no longer able to put the big hits on.

Too bad Fox is out because certainly Caver and Jones aren't ready to step in here.

Aren't ready? You mean they never will be ready. Those guys are there for ST's only. It's scary to think how crappy our overall LB'er situation is. Frankly, it's remarkable that it got so bad.

The worst part about the Barber signing was the fact that we let Donnie Edwards go to San Diego to play for half the coin that we ended up paying to Barber. This one falls in the "bad move" category.

Absolutely. This was the biggest mistake Carl ever ever made. They should have moved mountains to keep Edwards. Hindsight is 20/20, but I was really pissed at the time too...
