Stopping the run

Seriously, what about it?

A lot of experts will tell you that Run D is the best indicator of success so how are we doing? I seem to recall that our Run D wasn't that bad last year stat wise, but on the other hand I recall seeing people run all over us. What is the consensus on our run D last year and how is it going to be this year?
I'm still concerned about our D line for one, and I saw some nasty habits from the line and the lbs during the first preseason game.. hrm..

I just looked up DeShaun Foster's numbers for last season. He had 174 yards rushing against the Chiefs. He had 81 yards rushing the rest of the season combined.

We held Indy and Houston to under 3 yards per carry though. The team was capable of playing well at times.

I think it has a little to do with the type of runner. North south guys don't do as well as shifty guys.

Well, our run D SHOULD be better, with the additions at outside linebacker and Knight, who is a KNOWN run stuffer.

He had 75 yards on 1 play.

And that's been our Achilles heel. Not wrapping up and giving up the big play. If we could stop the 50+ yard runs, our YPC would drop dramatically.

Yep. That play was a backbreaker. There were 2 plays that really did us in last season. That run was one of them. The other was the interception returned for a TD against the Texans. It was a case of Al Saunders trying to be cute. We had first and goal at the 1. We had a 7 point lead in the fourth quarter. Our O-Line was manhandling them. We were running all over them with a RB who had just shattered the single season TD record. We threw...The season was officially lost.

misleading stats

the rams offense force the other team to throw more making their passing defensive #'s look worse and their running d look better.
