Is Rudy a lame duck story?

I just got finished with my annual viewing of Rudy. I love the film dearly and it makes me blubber like a bitch every time I watch it.

But is it a lame duck story? Rudy got his ass pounded for months and endured untold amounts of humiliation only to dress for one game and play in one meaningless play.

Lame duck? Or heartwarmingly inspirational?

Poll forthcoming.

He not only lived his dream, but was immortalized in a movie. Shit, how cool is that?

The only other player for either team that suited up for that game that is universally remembered today is some guy named Montana.

He made ONE PLAY, and to this day, 25 years later, people still talk about it. He's got his own little slice of immortality that no one can ever take away.

How wrong is it that I consider the movie a little cheesy?

Most older movies sometimes are alittle cheesy. This is a great movie and sometimes alittle cheesy. A guy wants to play football for ND and never gets to suit up but takes a daily pounding just to suit up for one game and the crowd is chanting R-U-D-Y, he gets a sack on the 2 plays he was in (wasnt he in on kickoff too?) All those years of him trying were worth it to him. I say insperational because he earns the respect of a sports world because of it.

If memory serves me correctly; I think he was in on the kick off coverage and the play after that when he got the sack was the final play of the game.
