Actually, the dynamics of 'getting sucked in' while channel srufing have changed with HD. The pecking order on a lazy Saturday is;
Any HD Content
Sports in SD
Episodic Current Events Commentary [ie, Best Week Ever, Replays of The Daily or Colbert I missed] in SD
Maybe a cooking show or This Old House rerun,
then, down at the bottom of the list,
movies in SD.

why i watch this everytime it's on tv (which is about 20 hours a day everyday) is beyond me

but i always find myself watching it all the way through
