What role in KC could Priest possibly play?

Lamar said he's hoping this guy could consider returning in 2007.

A guy who's lead the AFC in rushing yardage a time or two, a guy who spearheaded the league's most productive offense for five years, a guy who broke the record for rushing touchdowns in a year...

What role could a guy like this possibly fit into on a team that has absolutely everything it needs from LJ?

Replace Bennett, and get 10 runs a game, max? Would Priest settle for that?

Use his superior blocking ability and sure-handedness at fullback, paving the way for LJ down the middle? Would Priest settle for that?

No and no. Priest, for all his heart, understands that he is (was?) a marquee runner in the NFL. And all evidence of Priest's personality indicates that he wants to be the alpha dog, and vaporizes when that's not the case.

Do we, therefore, have trade bait? Or can we fit Priest into a role that (a.) the Chiefs need his skills for, and (b.) Priest would be satisfied with?

Yeah, but he does have some blocking skills. Hmph, maybe he could carry LJ to the bench. It'd sure be useful. We wouldn't want our star runningback getting injured on the way to the bench.

He could be an LJ motivator in the frickin red zone.
If Priest played the role of a Bettis I wouldn't mind.
As much talk as there is about LJ he's not that great in the red zone. Just see last weeks game.
If that was an aging Priest out there I still think he could do more than LJ.

All of this talk about next year is diplomacy.

He's done. Move on.

It's probably for the best, because the only role I see him playing on THIS team is SPOILER.

I sure miss those great perimeter runs around the left side with big Willie Road smashing guys and Priest zigging and zagging through. Remember the Atlanta Falcons game here when Priest & Derrick Blaylock each scored 4 rushing TDs? Score was 56-10. Ya never see those left side perimeter runs near the goal line much anymore. I'm sure it's b/c Willie's gone. I wonder if Bennett is more capable of those types of runs considering Jordan Black is getting better over there....Coach Solari are ya listenin'?

Even IF he comes back, and i really dont think he should/is, there is no way he see's any time at FB. After the injury he sustained, is he going to want to play a position that requires him to slam his head into someone on every play???

No way.
