Remember everybody around here saying for years that you shouldn't build around running backs?
Now you want to build entire coaching staffs around him? Truth be told, I love the article because I love outside-the-box thinking, and Shanahan and the Chiefs may yet be a good fit. But it doesn't make sense to bring in somebody to run the team because the running back is selfish. |

I think Charles could do some great things, too. Hell, any RB we bring in for that matter. Dantrell ****ing Savage could probably bust off 1K in Shanny's system.

Well keep up the good work. I love these kinds of ideas.
I personally believe Shanahan's lost his burst. It feels like a Vermeil hire. |

Maybe he'll do what Holmgren did in Seattle. Take the next team he coaches as a non GM to the Super Bowl.

I think Shanahan could do some AMAZING things with Tony Gonzalez.
Hell he might be able to get a decent season out of Thigpen by Plummering him up.

With all due respect, Shanahan is "not" a good GM that is what got him fired. Keeping a close eye on the enemy out here since '88' I have seen it all with this organization. The "umpteenmillion D coordinators" Shanny went through were his 'fall guys' to blame and his last 'fall guy' was Sundquist the "figure head psuedo" GM he fired at the beginning of the summer. I can almost assure you that Bowlen still wanted Shanny as his coach but told Mike he needs help making better "draft choices" and bringing people in who are not "yes people" who truly know how to build defenses. Mike didn't want that and now Mike is gone.
If we want the same issues Denver has dealt with these past 10yrs then bring in Shanny. Shanny is the best strategical preparer and playcaller for offenses "hands down" I agree. Yes it will be far more entertaining on the offensive side of the ball getting an average of 8-10wins a year. But there is the flipside of not getting to the playoffs because of consistent "poor drafts" which result in "bad defenses" regardless of what coordinators you have in there if we let "one person" call all the shots. I really believe we have suffered the same scenario these past 10yrs(post Marty) as well just from the "GM side" of things. Do we really think that Dick didn't realize that we needed better D players in here so that our 2003-2004 runs could have resulted in potential SBs if we would have just had "mediocre D"s? Of course he knew, but I believe Carl chose not to improve our D side of the ball by either drafting bad or signing FAs on the cheap which cost us SBs IMO. I don't want the "single entity" calling all the shots either in GM or head coach EVER!! |

I don't think Shannahan would consider coaching the Chiefs. If he would I think it could be a good fit. He is a good coach and he would be out to stick it up the Donkey's and Raider's asses. In fact, he may resent the two franchises more than this entire board combined right now.
No way in hell it happens though. |

I agree with you and I think its a good fit for 3 reasons: 1. you have a young quarterback who could use a QBs coach and Shanahan is good with QB's 2. you have RB's on this roster right now that have excellent speed and are potentially good cutback runners. 3. shanahan knows how to take advantage of average Olineman and utilize them well enough to play to their strengths given right scheme. *these 3 factors should give him enough consideration to be worth at LEAST interviewing, brought in for a look or even hired? |

Shanny would need to get a buzzcut and an earring if he were our coach. He'd need to rebel a little from his Denver look. Punk Shanny, greasin' up Albert and chop-blockin' Shawne "roidman" Merriman. Bootleginn' Thiggaz out on the edge. Push off that CB, Bowe, the refs won't see.
Uh uh. What? I'm Punk Shanny and I'm here to say Gonna pay back Bowlen Cus I'm the rat-hey Gonna grease up Albert And chop-block some fooz Gonna bootleg Thiggaz And Larry's gonna rollz Look out Davis Here I come Now my running back Packs a heated gun What? What? Arrowhead FO LIFE Peace out. Got a plate waitin' fo me at Gates. KC-style. YO.
