Discounted Season Tickets

So I'm sitting here minding my own business at lunch and I'm checking out the company discounts. I work at Cessna here in Wichita, so Lord knows there ain't much happening! I happen to run across this little jewel:

NEW Kansas City Chiefs tickets: limited number of $250 Full Season Tickets for all Cessna employees, as well as their family and friends. Lower level seats and Group opportunities are also available. Please contact Tyler Kirby directly at (816) 920-4824 or tkirby@chiefs.nfl.com with any questions or to reserve seats.

How desparate are they anyway?

This isn't some special offer. When prices were announced you could have chosen to sit up there rather than to renew where you are.
I don't understand how people can see that these tickets are available to whoever wants them......

The Chiefs are HURTING to sell tickets. They are marketing to anyone/everyone. They did this same type of thing prior to Carl coming to town.

The point is, they'll make better deals to people who haven't supported them for years. I'm not saying my seats should cost $25 ea, but they've discounted the more expensive seats, or given away merchandise and stuff to people who buy late in the year to avoid blackouts. I'm just saying they don't give the best deals to their best customers like other businesses do.

Damnit, I gave up my season tickets this year because they were $900, and this thread got me to thinking if we had $250 tickets in SD.

I went and checked and the Cheapest are $480 in the Family Section in Upper View (4 sections of seats), which are all sold out. The next cheapest is $630.

Dude, what do you expect them to do? If you were selling a product and your sales were down, you reduce your prices...but you were not screwing the people who already bought it because they obviously felt it was worth it when they paid.

...I guarantee you the Chiefs didn't want to lower their prices, so they were not screwing anyone...

It's crazy. Why can I, Joe Blow, be able to buy lower level seats between the 35 and 50 for 20% above season ticket prices "willy nilly?" I'm just someone who has money willing to buy a couple of seats where precious seats have been held for years. BTW, the 20% premium is less than the same seat for a single game. I repeat, IT'S CRAZY!!!

Perhaps a lot of companies used to do that, but I'm not sure I can think of any good examples these days. Most companies give you the best deals to start doing business with them, then hope you'll hang on after they bump their prices up.

My season tickets went down in price this year. Last year they were $780 this year $590. I also could have gotten a lower price by changing seats during relocation.

Got this in my company email yesterday.

Notice the misspelling on the subject line of the origin within the Chiefs organization.

BTW: Mr. Walker is the Superintendent here

Subject: Kansas City Cheifs - Kansas State Department of Education Ticket Offer

Mr. Walker

My name is Adam Rossbach with the Kansas City Chiefs. The Chiefs have reached out to educators through Kansas and Missouri offering affordable reduced priced season tickets for 2009! We wanted to reach out to the Geary County School District as well and provide the same opportunity. Below I have included an email with all of the details that could get forwarded around. We are excited to provide this opportunity to your District! Would you be able to provide this opportunity to your District staff and faculty through an email? Just let me know. Thank you Ron and I look forward to hearing from you!

The Kansas City Chiefs have a limited number of $250 and $390 full season tickets (all ten games) available to all State of Kansas Department of Education faculty, staff, and employees, their friends and family!

Please share this opportunity with your friends, family, and fellow co-workers!

We also have discounted group tickets available to Kansas State Department of Education faculty and staff! These tickets are discounted by $10-$13 with a group of 20 or more. Our 2009 home schedule includes: The Cowboys, Steelers, Giants, Broncos, Chargers, Raiders, Bills, Browns and the Texans and Seahawks during the preseason.

To reserve your tickets or for more information contact Adam Rossbach at 816.920.4818 or email me at arossbach@chiefs.nfl.com. Please feel free to share this with family, friends, and coworkers!

Sincerely,

Adam Rossbach I Account Executive
