Chiefs workout RB Chris Perry

Chris Perry-RB-Bengals Nov. 25 - 6:02 pm et

The Chiefs worked out free agent RB Chris Perry this week.
Back from the dead. Perry, the No. 26 overall pick in 2004, fell out of the league last offseason after a dreadful 2008 campaign that began with him starting at tailback for the Bengals. How far the Cincinnati running game has come. Perry was drafted by the UFL's Orlando Tuskers over the summer.

Nothing to lose here. And who knows, by a complete long shot, he could realize his potential in a new environment, as Benson did in Cincy. Remember that Benson only averaged 3.4 YPC before he was cut in Chicago.
**** no dude, Herm isnt here to coddle washed out players anymore... He shouldnt even be an option. He has zero vision, falls down at first contact and a bad attitude... We just got rid of him...

I can't think of a good reason to bring this guy in. Whatever I guess.

And I'm just saying that some RBs do okay in new environments. Cedric Benson fizzled out in Chicago. And now he's one of the best backs in the league. Perry was once a first round draft pick. And he did average about 5 yards per carry his first two seasons. Isn't it possible that maybe his poor performance in 2008 was due to coming back from a fractured leg?

Do we have a thunder back? No. It's a long shot. But again, what do we have to lose? And what do we have to gain?--on a long shot, you get a player who manages to play to his potential in a new environment. Even if his only job is to bulldoze RBs and gain few yards, it's still always good to have a change of pace back for Charles.

I thought that's why we brought in the HB/FB hybrid guy from Arizona.

Not a big fan of wasting look time on a scrub like Perry.... I would hope to God our coaching staff has something more meaningful to do than to take a look to see if he has any gas left in his ass tank....

Perhaps this is an indication that J. Willams is not ready to step in if any of the backs go down. Dammit Carl!

Ruh?

Not sure I understand this one, but I suppose he could be used in a secondary role.
Get 5-7 touches per game. Perry can catch the ball out of the backfield and does have experience returning kicks.

It's kind of a meh signing. If he gives you something great... Otherwise, he walks after the season's over.

I also think it's a waste of time. I mean, we have six games left this season. We might as well stick with the backs we have, and find someone in the offseason.
