True or False, Vince Young is a pro-bowler

True

Vince Young replaces Philip Rivers on Pro Bowl roster

Posted by Michael David Smith on January 20, 2010 6:50 PM ET

Through the first seven weeks of the season, Tennessee Titans quarterback Vince Young hadn't even completed a pass. Now he's a Pro Bowler.

Young, who became the Titans' starter in Week Eight and led the team from 0-6 to 8-8, was named to his second Pro Bowl today. He replaces Chargers quarterback Philip Rivers, who pulled out, citing an injury.

"I was working out when Coach [Jeff] Fisher called me and told me the news this afternoon," Young said today in a statement released by the team. "I was very excited to find out that I'm getting a chance to go play in the Pro Bowl. Thanks to all my teammates, coaches and fans that have supported me."

The AFC Pro Bowl quarterbacks were originally supposed to be Peyton Manning, Tom Brady and Rivers. Then Brady pulled out, first alternate Ben Roethlisberger declined to participate, second alternate Matt Schaub took Brady's spot, and now Young, the third alternate, is taking Rivers' place.

So if Manning has to withdraw because the Colts go to the Super Bowl, Schaub will be the AFC's Pro Bowl starter, with Young and the fourth alternate (whose identity is not currently known) backing him up.

Vince Young? Seriously? Is that a joke?

Who are the AFC quarterbacks nowadays?

Trent Edwards? Was he still starting at season end?
The Dolphins? Thigpen? Okay.
Sanchez, but he could be in the Super Bowl.
Brady wimped out.
Flacco is behind Young? What happened to Flacco?
Carson Palmer? What's up with him?
Whoever's with the Browns. Anderson or Quinn. Whatever.
Roethlisberger is a wimp, so he's out.
Schaub's in.
Manning's in, but will he play if he's in the Super Bowl?
Garrard. Seems reasonable over Young.
Kyle "pro bowl" Orton, but he may be holding out hope for a Super Bowl
Cassel. Looks like he has a chance to, um, be a pro bowler.
Jamarcu - never mind.
Rivers is in.

It's not a golden age for QBs, but I would've guessed that Palmer and Flacco would make it long before Young. I'm not looking at their stats, but they at least have stats for a full season.

You gotta admit Young changed that team in a big way just like Charles , I'd think Charles would be in if 4 or 5 RB's pulled out.

No homerism... the Titans came back because of the play of Chris Johnson, look at his increase in touches after Vince started. Vince played well at times, even really good a few times... but in no way is he the next alternate when you have those other 3 sitting out there.

Easy. They're trying to promote it. Looks good on paper. Unlikely to work.

I'm still kind of amazed that the pro bowl exists. I recognize that most players don't go all out, but still, if I was a quarterback making 42 gazillion dollars a year, I'm not sure I'd play an exhibition game and risk injury if I didn't have to. I'd probably play just because I like football, but I'd have happy feet.

Perhaps the best thing about the game is that it lets the fans know which players love the game and which ones don't.

It is stuipid to have before the superbowl, move to the following week if they want to it, or send it over seas after the superbowl and get a home game back and let the best show off the NFL.

Matt Schaub deserved to be one of the first 3 to go and now Vince Young is taken before him when someone doesn't go?

The NFL has turned reeruned.

Goodell should've thought of the fact that players wouldn't want to play in the game if it wasn't in HI. Seriously dumb move on his part. The Pro Bowl is ruined. It will never feature the premier players in the league again.
