Never understood why players get a percent of anything when owners take all the risk.

Yeah, it's not like the players can have their ability to walk, talk, and breathe taken away from them on any given play.

Really, I never understood why the majority of fans side with the owners who are basically a bunch of old rich billionaires turning big profits.

NFL owners are crying about their "dire economic condition" yet refuse to release their financial records to prove this.

I'm not sure how accurate they would be anyway, all of the parking and concessions are in cash so it would be pretty easy to fudge those numbers.

I TOTALLY believe it. I read on PFT that the stalemate is due to the owners not wanting to show their books. Not because they're raking it in but because they're embarrassed to show how little they make. If the world found out how little they net, the values of their franchises would plummet like the housing market. $800 million for a franchise? Gimme a break. The owners have been riding the appreciation while writing off the annual losses on their taxes. The only reason to own a franchise is the appreciation.

DeMaurice Smith just said in his PC that the the Packers (who are publicly held, so the books are available, apparently) cleared a profit of $20M in 2008, which was a losing season, without Brett Favre.

They were 27th in payroll at $94M. The Salary Cap was $116M. Do the math.

That's not a huge profit, IMO, and I can see where teams could be losing money.

Yeah I ain't forkin out the dough for Sunday Ticket, too damn costly. I also work rotating shift work so I'm not free to sit around and watch football all day sunday.

I would however pay a small fee to watch a Chiefs game when I am home on Sundays. This would happen roughly 6 games a year.

I would much rather pay less & only get the Chiefs games'.

We're close enough up here to get the other AFC West teams on cable. Those are the only other teams I really keep up with.
