Well...this is somewhat anticlimactic...

Not that it's unexpected, but I feel mildly let down with the new server. I mean, we don't really have any new toys to play with in terms of features or anything. It just works. I've gotten so use to screwing with it in the background every night that now it's like I don't have anything to do.

Don't get me wrong - it's a good thing - just not as much fun as it seems like it should be. Maybe I need to find some new stupid add-on to install just for fun.

Next project, make a Dark theme, sort of like this...

http://www.cheapassgamer.com/forums/...splay.php?f=26

or this...

http://forums.steampowered.com/forum...splay.php?f=14

I can't tell you how much easier those forums are on the eyes.

I suck at visuals. It's a remote possibility, though.

Mainly someone who's good with CSS and has a sense of visual style. It'd be relatively easy to change the colors as long as we keep the headers and everything the same.

I might play with it at some point. No promises - extra styles are a pain - but it's a possibility.

Let's hold off on visuals... here is my plan...

I am going to start prepping the server for the new version of Vbulletin... the PLAN is to make a test directory with a copy of the DB and upgrade THAT.. from there we can modify all the themes and get everything tweaked (documenting EVERYTHING as we go...). Once the test forum is how we want it... we can export/save most of the changes, upgrade the actual forum and apply the changes all at once..

That seems like the most painless path to take...

I will probably start on that ASAP so we can take as long as we need to to get it perfect.

Any thoughts?

Oh, and here are the features for the new version..

http://www.vbulletin.com/index.php?do=features

I am probably going to get the full SUITE even if we don't end up using the CMS, BLOGS, or PUBLISHING features... although I would LOVE to have some of you guys write articles if anyone is willing.

I think everyone should be given a temp ban card... and they can choose to use it at any time to ban anyone they want for two days.

That could be fun. Although, I bet people would conspire to team up and keep certain others out for a loooong time.

I am pretty sure as time goes by, we will have some of the posters writing articles. I personally think it's an important feature to include at the moment even if we don't think we will need it soon.

If you combined this with my battleship idea, this would be the most popular BB on the entire internet (excluding porn, of course).
