I watched the game again last night....

I've been trying to avoid it, but I was bored last night and couldn't resist. Im kinda glad I did watch it though. I can see why we lost the way we did and it had much more to do with the coaching staff than the players. I know it's not the popular opinion but I don't think the talent on this team is as bad as last week may indicate. That Includes Cassel (ducks for cover)

Romeo Crennel was out coached. He had a shit gameplan and did a terrible job. He was reactive instead of proactive. He put his players in a terrible position. He did not put the right players in a position to succeed. That was the worst DC performance I've ever seen from him. Let me explain.

On the majority of the Snaps the Bills came out and spread their offense. Crennel reacted by putting in our sub defense packages, which usually featured two down linemen. He took Dorsey out of the game and subbed in Gilberry.

The majority of 1st downs we were not in our base D. Gilberry is not an every down player, yet in the 1st half it seemed like he took more snaps than Dorsey. On the majority of Jackson's longer runs which occurred on 1st and 2nd down, Gilberry got his shit pushed in. When ever Dorsey was in the game the runs resulted in much shorter gains.

Gilberry and Bailey absolutely got blown off the ball. Gregg was inconsistant but Dorsey was a beast. So Why the **** wasn't Dorsey in the game more? Especially on first downs.

I recall a series in which the Bills were 10-15 yards from the endzone yet Gilberry took 3-4 consecutive snaps. That's unacceptable.

The Chiefs did EXACTLY what the Bills wanted them to do.

AND THEN....

Berry goes out and McGraw and Shitsthebeddy come in. Rather than masking that defeciency they completely expose it! In what ****ing universe does lining up pissthebedy over a slot receiver or TE make any ****ing sense? And lets not get started on the pass rushing.

I have a lot more to say regarding the offense but the OP is already too long....

In conclusion, the coaching staff failed to put the right players in the right position to succeed.

You don't think they were overmatched? Berry gave up a TD, Flowers gave up 2, Jackson carried multiple defenders on a consistent basis ...

You can't give a guy like Chan Gailey an entire offseason to gameplan for you after you fired him the year previous. That IMO was the main problem from a defensive perspective. I'd worry a lot more about the offense than the defense at this point. The casshole looks like he's continued his late season regression from last year - and Bill Muir looks like he'd fit right in as playcaller for Herm.
The Chiefs had no problem playing Dorsey a lot last season. He held up fine and it worked. Dorsey and Gregg should've been in on 1st and 2nd downs, Gilberry and Bailey can come in on 3rd down.

The fact remains: The Bills came out on 1st down and made the Chiefs think Pass. Chiefs put their pass rushing specialists out there and got run all over. Time after time again. It's pretty freaking easy to get a 1st down when the offense is looking at 2nd and 4 every series.

You'd think that Romeo would learn. Gaily ran circles around Crennel.

I've never really understood why Dorsey doesn't slide into the inside on our 3rd down set... which is essentially a 4 man line. Houston and Hali on the ends, Dorsey and whoever else at the DT spots.

No, I don't. I think the Chiefs coaches asked certain players to do things that they aren't good at doing. In return they got beat. The Berry TD was given up on a very short field. The Flowers TD was just a great play by Stevie. Flowers had good coverage. Johnson had 4 catches for 66 Yards. That hardly says overmatched to me.

The O-line certainly was not man handled. Charles showed flashes of nearly breaking a big one. The D-Line got handled when the wrong personnel were out there.

If you knew the Bills were going to run on you, do you think putting Gilberry and Bailey out there is a good idea? That's exactly what I mean by putting your players in a position to fail.

Fitz went 7 for 7 when throwing at McGraw, Pisc and Lewis. Those three were overmatched. What's the excuse for lack of a pass rush, wrong personnel on the field?

Yup. The O-line held it down for the most part.

One more thing: I understand the Chiefs are trying to get more weapons involved in the passing game, but if it ain't happening, please throw the ****ing ball to Bowe. Covered or not. Give him a chance at least. How many targets did he even get?

Houston was dropped into coverage about 80% of his snaps.

That's a bad coaching decision. He's a pure pass rusher, yet, he only rushed the passer 3 times.

I'm not saying Cassel is anything more than a game manager type guy but our coaches aren't doing a good enough job. Period.

Like i said before ... Cassel is not much different than Trent Green.

You saddle Green with this shitty coaching staff and scheme, he would look a lot like Cassel. Dazed and confused.

Of course willie roaf helped a ton too.

The excuse for the lack of pass rush is Crennel. He repeatedly rushed 3-4 guys....Hali being the only OLB rushing Fitzpatrick. All Buffalo did was double team Hali.

Rewatch the game.

You're missing my point. Lining pissthebedy over a WR in the slot is a mismatch. Of course he is going to be picked on. It happened all game long. The scheme shouldn't put a player like that in a situation like that. That falls on the hands of the coaching staff. Instead of hiding our defeciencies, Crennel left them to be exposed.

I've been saying it this entire thread.

What's the excuse for the lack of pass rush? Did you watch the game? They didn't even send a pass rush....

If your front 4 isn't generating a pass rush, then isn't it usually a case where the DL is overmatched by the OL?

If Buffalo is 4 wide and Berry is out, who do you want covering the 4th receiver? I'm assuming you are using Flowers, Carr and Arenas on 1-3.

The made the same mistake on offense and defense.

They tried to use Piscitelli/O'connell like they were Berry/Moeaki with disastrous effect.

It's even worse on offense because Moeaki was hurt before the season even started.
