40 somethings. And by that I mean 40 pieces of 40 things (some can be big, some sentimental, but unless you have an unlimited budget some will be small, dumb and funny). Like 40 roses, 40 balloons, 40 paper clips, 40 funny sayings, 40 rubber bands, etc.

I did something pretty cool for my wife's 40th- I put together a video slideshow of photos of her, from baby pics all the way up to present, accompanied by music of each time period, and put the video on DVD, which we played at her 40th party. Very touching- I heard lotsa happy sniffles during the vid. Earned me some MAJOR points with the missus.. :-)

I took a childhood pic of my mrs to a local print shop and they made a huge poster of it which I set up at the party location and it was signed by all when she arrived.

Now for my mrs 40th birthday,I got one of the local residence homes to send a van and guy came in with wheelchair,even had a piss bag on the side full of mountain dew,to pick her up.He blindfolded her and then loaded her into van and to even make it more real got on radio and pretended to call hospital and said he was enroute with a hip replacement patient.Once at the location all the guests were waiting outside holding 40 black balloons and when the blindfold came off the balloons were released.

Lastly had a special order 40th birthday cake made complete with a hill and one side was all pretty etc and the over the hill black frosting etc.

That's cool . She is the director of nursing at a retirement home .
