Hypothetical: The Broncos call.

They have a good receiving corps when everybody's healthy, a good running game, and still a very good defense with a lot of pieces in place.

So they make a call: we need a QB. But we're likely getting a top 15 pick in 2018, so you're not getting our first.

But we reeeeeeally want Alex Smith. So we'll pay you with our 1st in 2019, which is (in the Broncos' opinion) somewhere in the mid to late 20s.

Do you take the deal? Poll coming.

all of the other AFCW teams would be a good fit for him

Denver - would love to have a solid starter while they find their real QBoTF
Oakland - (if he comes cheap & doesn't want to start anymore) spent almost a decade in the Bay Area anyway, I'm sure they'd love to have a backup who could start since Carr is guaranteed to be out sometime during the season, every season
San Diego - grew up there and his family lives there

He's JFF. Did you miss him getting tackled by a police officer in Arkansas?

Alex has value, no doubt and there are several teams this year that would love to have him, I'm sure. But, Denver isn't going to give picks to KC. Let's assume they really did covet him, they're not giving up top picks for the guy.

Alex is a 12 year guy that's only now having his 5th winning season. Alex will be 34 next year and if Denver were going to give up picks for a mid 30s guy, it wouldn't be him and not to KC. Sorry, it's a pipe dream.

But, teams like Jacksonville, Buffalo, Jets, Vikings, Giants (if they were to trade Eli), Bears, Cardinals... I could see those teams being targets.

There's just no way they're giving picks at that level to a divisional team.

Why would Denver cut a deal with a divisional rival for Alex Smith when they can either swing a dick and try to get Luck or get Eli Manning for the same price if not cheaper?
