Chiefs sign OL Goff
The Chiefs agreed to contract terms today with veteran offensive lineman Mike Goff. Goff has some versatility and could wind up starting for the Chiefs at center or right guard.

The 33-year-old Goff played 11 NFL seasons, the first six with Cincinnati and the last five with San Diego. He has been a starter for the past nine seasons.

Sweet, a 33 year old ****ing piece o' shit journeyman scrub to be penciled in as a starter. This is the freakin' OG equivalent of signing Damion Suckintosh.

With each day that passes, I'm finding that Herm knew more about building a team than PioliHaley. I guess we'll see if Haley can make Pioli look as good as Belichick did. Doubtful.

It's really a shame that Herm was such a total ****ing dumbass when it came to actually coaching a team.

So he was good before he turned 32, then he started going downhill? Wow, amazing how that works in the NFL. But hey, great signing.

if the price quoted in this article is correct a already good signing is 10x better

The Kansas City Chiefs added valuable depth and perhaps a starter to their interior offensive line on Wednesday, reaching a contract agreement with unrestricted free-agent guard Mike Goff, who played the past five years with the San Diego Chargers.

Goff, according to a source, agreed to a two-year, $3.5 million contract that will play him a little more than $1.7 million in 2009.

Goff, 33, was one of the last starting-caliber players at any position, especially the offensive line, remaining in the unrestricted pool. He can play center or guard, but has started mostly at right guard for the Chargers. The former Iowa star likely will start for the Chiefs, and should help the team address several pending line problems.

Starting guard Brian Waters has indicated he will not play for new coach Todd Haley, and what was one of the NFL's best and most consistent units for several seasons has been in flux the past two years.

A third-round choice of Cincinnati in 1998, Goff played his first six seasons with the Bengals, before signing with the Chargers in 2004.

The 11-year veteran has been a starter since the 2000 season. He has started in all 16 games each of the past six seasons. Goff started all 16 games on eight occasions during his career and has not missed a game in six seasons.

In all, he has played in 163 games, with 140 starts.

If he can also compete at center it could be a great stop gap signing. At the very worst he's an upgrade for depth compared to Brian De La Puente, If he lights a fire under Adrian Jones ass at least that's competition we didn't have last year.
