Yep. OBJ is just a bad fit for the Chiefs. Taylor is kind of like Tristan Wirfs. Great athlete. He will only get better at run blocking, and either way Pacheco isn't exactly a guy that relies on vision. He's kind of a fast bull runner. We now have more flexibility with Taylor and he fits our scheme and what we want to do perfectly.

So RT to me seems like a great spot for a bandaid. Bring someone in who can hold the fort for a year or two until Taylor can get bumped back into RT. Maybe the chiefs feel good enough already about someone like allegretti or kinnard or prince wanagho to be a stopgap.

Feel pretty good about this.
$20M for a swing tackle, lol.

Probably because he is a bad run blocker? But anyway - who really cares. Do we care about how good of a run blocker? We do not. We care about how well he is as a pass blocker and how well he will fit into our scheme.

I think it also demonstrates how much GMs in general like negotiating with unrepresented players. Seems like front offices would have little patience when getting in the weeds with people not accustomed to legalese and fine print. Then again, maybe they feel like they have a widower in a car dealership and are ready to present the Clear Coat option?

If one they love falls sure. I'd plug Niang in, sign an old vet as insurance, put the women and children in bed and go looking for dinner

They need more weapons now.

You'd have to check their pass-block win rates. I honestly have no idea.

I don't see them forcing the weapons thing, it happens it happens. I do expect them to try to add Hopkins.

Ever since we learned OBJ wouldn't be tagged the one thing that stood out to me that didn't make sense was the report the Chiefs weren't tagging him because they wanted a "long term solution". Now seeing this it makes me wonder if the Chiefs were actually so high on Taylor that they didn't want to miss this opportunity to sign him instead of OBJ.

They saw a guy that they thought was an even better fit than Brown at LT, but since he's only played RT, they could get him a little cheaper.

Well he's 25 and his physical profile is exactly what the Chiefs like in OTs.

Also, tagging OBJ and trying to trade him made signing Taylor impossible.
