Off Season Lets Talk Guns
Been a while since we had a guns n' ammo discussion.
Some of you are AR shooters Im sure. Im looking at a Colt 6920. Will be my first AR. Picked up a Glock this fall and really enjoy shooting it. Any feedback on that weapon? Anyone else been in a buy/sell/trade mood with hardware? Part 2: http://www.chiefsplanet.com/BB/showthread.php?t=293623 Last edited by Bearcat; 07-28-2015 at 06:06 PM.. |

Chicom Model M will accept the AK mag. I believe most are paratrooper model.
The zombie world also refers to them as Ds. Why I have know idea. I like the SKS. Just hate the duck bill high cap mags. |

I bought my norinco sks in 2011 for $280, came with folding synthetic stock and wood. The thing shoots like a dream, love it.

I still need to put all of my parts on the Norinko SKS I got off a buddy back in November.
Think i paid $200 for it. Just wish I would have bought more than the 20 rd Pro Mag for it when I was ordering up parts back then. |

I have know idea how they work on an ak. But an SKS they will shrink your groups by half if not more. Plus you dont need to move the front sight pin left to right in order to get zeroed.

I wasn't sold on the idea of mounting to the "dust cover" on an AK either. On my AK I installed an Ultimak rail, which will replace your gas tube and mount directly to the barrel. On that rail I mounted a primary arms mini red dot. It co-witnesses with irons, is solid, and still allows full function of everything. Might be worth looking into. I've been pretty happy with it.

One of the sites I use for ammo had 7.62 x 39 available with an estimated shipping date of February 15, so I went ahead and ordered 600 rounds.
Their best date on .223 (at least .223 I'd run through my rifle) was July. |

I know, and we're setting up for that. But my buddy who's shouldering the lion's share of the cost wants to focus on pistol ammo first, so it will be a few months down the road. That's the main reason I didn't bother ordering any .223.

I am still learning the tricks of the trade from my dad. I will try to throw you any advice I can. It's easy to reload at his place when I am surrounded by the best equipment available. The one thing that my dad repeats is "Buy the best carbide equipment that you can" or it will wear out quickly. We probably deal with a little more volume than a normal person does, though. |
