Off Season Lets Talk Guns
Been a while since we had a guns n' ammo discussion.
Some of you are AR shooters Im sure. Im looking at a Colt 6920. Will be my first AR. Picked up a Glock this fall and really enjoy shooting it. Any feedback on that weapon? Anyone else been in a buy/sell/trade mood with hardware? Part 2: http://www.chiefsplanet.com/BB/showthread.php?t=293623 Last edited by Bearcat; 07-28-2015 at 06:06 PM.. |

Only thing is, as a revolver it will have more kick to it than a pistol, since there's really nothing to absorb the recoil but your hand. Keep that in mind if you're getting one for your wife. |

I almost made an impulse buy on a Sig .22 1911 today when buying a couple more boxes of .556.
Local gunstore here is limiting people to 3 boxes of ammo each now. I'm holding off for a Kimber .45, but I think that the Sig .22 pistol would be hella fun. They were asking $299. |

I just have no desire to ever own another .22. To me, it's a little kid gun.

True, but for plinking and messing around... ammo is still dirt cheap.
That's really the only reason I would justify buying another .22. I also have a Ruger 10/22 takedown that is fun to play around with. Great for when the nephews and neighbors kids want to shoot with the "big boys". |

I actually have a 22LR upper for my AR and will eventually get a 22LR upper for my 1911. Main reason why? Dirt cheap training. Blow through 500rds of 22LR and there goes $15. Blow through 500rds of anything else(especially now....)... Shooting is fun even with the little bullets and if you can train mechanics for cheap why not? Personally I want to get an FA 1928 and then get the 22LR conversion kit for it. Now that's a great use for the little bullets! Cheap FA!!!

Is that some sort of silencer on the end? Couldn't figure out what the hell that barrel extension was for. |

Fake silencer covering a 16" barrel so it's not an SBR would be what I would bet.

Personally if I were going tacticool I'd go fro the Umarex MP5SD 22. 'Cause it's HK licensed and the barrel extension looks less 'tacked on'

a .22 AR would be fun... and cheap to train with.
Not to mention, that's about that only AR you have a snowball's chance of finding on the shelf at any gunstore right now. |

You can buy an "SD kit", with a thicker shroud. I replaced the foregrip on mine with a RIS rail system. I also got a cheap red dot for it; little sucker is A C C U R A T E! Its a cool little plinker. Dirt cheap and perfect for days you want to go shoot but not spend a lot on ammo.

If you guys enjoy your .22s, that's cool. For me, though, I can't just walk out the back door into the field, or get in a car and drive 15 minutes to a relative's property and start shooting anymore. Nor do I have any varmints to kill. Those days are gone forever. If I want to shoot a pistol, I'm going to an indoor range, paying for the privilege, and then waiting in line until a lane clears. If I want to shoot a rifle, I'm driving a hour and a half, paying a fee, and then shooting under the close supervision of some of the most uptight assholes in the state (not that I blame them - in Illinois, they have to be that way). My point is, if I'm going to all that trouble, I'm not going to bother with a .22. And I really don't shoot often enough that ammo is a huge expense.
