Sacks aren't important to you? How about Tackles? How about FF? Pressures?

Because Ford produced more. Surely, some sort of production is important to you.

I use Flowers because he seems to be the best answer to how you fill the void left by Houston/Ford.

Clearly, if Flowers is your best answer then you're not filling that void. And if you're not filling that void then you got worse.

Like when the Chiefs traded Peters and threw the kitchen sink at that void only to be WORSE.

Dee Ford isn't getting the exclusive rights tag. The Chiefs almost never use it.

So again, if your argument is a 2019 SB push then cutting talent makes no damn sense.

If you want full rebuild mode on D and are OK with the idea that the D may not see any substantial improvement and may get worse, then ok. Blow it up.

So if they keep Ford, sign whoever to a contract in the secondary you're good with that?

Well, we didn't.

No one expected Mahomes to be this good an us in the AFCCG his first year. The team looked at last year as a rebuilding/retooling year and not a big push year.

I'm not even sure what you mean.

Mahomes just played his first whole season. The only thing he's closer to is reaching his full potential.

Denver rookie QB John Elway, on Jack Lambert, after Lambert and the Steelers knocked Elway out of his first game as a pro (1983).

I LITERALLY said "sacks are the ONLY THING that's important". How you get "they aren't important at all" out of that I have no idea. You're either being purposefully obtuse or you can't read.

Going all-in on one guy that hasn't proven he can repeat his previous performance makes no damn sense.

They've went out and put together the best defensive staff they probably could, in terms of assistants and such.

At some point, they're gonna have to coach up some draft picks, lowkey signings, etc.

No time like now for that to happen so if that's the route they want to go, you def take what you can get for high priced guys and reset.

Whoever? No.

They need upgrades, not more Orlando Scandrick's.

But yeah, say they land Collins while keeping Ford? Yeah, that's decent enough.

I've longed believe, since the drafting of Speaks, that the Chiefs would NOT carry BOTH Ford and Houston in 2019.

I felt that if Ford had a year we all knew he could have, Houston would be the casualty. And Ford didn't then Houston would be the player to lead the transition to the Speaks/Kpasso/Rook era.

Nothing has dissuaded me from that.

They've got the draft and all of free agency to bring in help.

Hell, i'd rather keep Ford on the tag and cut Berry and Houston and just go from there but we'll see.

As much as i'm not a big Collins fan, i'd think that's the route they go.

Draft and develop someone to replace Ford next year.

I honestly think that is what's most likely.

I think the plan is to move forward with Ford unless someone offers fair compensation for him (which they don't expect but would happily take.)

My point being that Ford beats Flowers in nearly every meaningful category. So fine, don't just look at sacks. Ford is still better. And at MAYBE $2M more, Ford is worth the slight increase in cost.

Cutting Berry would also ease my mind but again, I just don't see it happening.

They're going to bring back Berry and Ford, both with big cap hits, and they're both going to spend considerable time nursing injuries in 2019.

Sorry, that's just where I'm at right now. Maybe it's because it's early March and it's still bleeping below zero here!
