Dakota Fanning to be raped onscreen

This is disturbing. I hope people boycott this movie because there's no need for crap like this.

Dakota, 12, to star in 'disturbing paedophile film'

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/pages/liv...n_page_id=1773

Child actress Dakota Fanning will appear in a controversial new movie featuring paedophile scenes.

War of the Worlds star Dakota, 12, has signed up to appear in Hounddog.

The screenplay calls for Fanning's character to be raped in one explicit scene and to appear naked or clad only in "underpants" in several other horrifying moments.

A source close to the film said: "The two taboos in Hollywood are child abuse and the killing of animals.

"In this movie, both things happen." Fanning's mother, Joy, and her Hollywood agent, Cindy Osbrink, see the movie, written and directed by Deborah Kampmeier, as a possible Oscar vehicle for the pint-size star.

But despite Fanning's status as a bankable actress - whose movies, including last year's War of the Worlds have earned more than half a billion dollars since 2001 - the alarming material seems to have scared off potential investors, according to the New York Daily News.

The film charts the life of a girl who is abused and finds solace in the music of Elvis Presley.

Fanning's carefully choreographed rape scene has already been filmed. But then the production - which also stars Robin Wright Penn, David Morse and Piper Laurie - was stopped because of a lack of money.

But emergency investors were found and the movie is set to be finished by the end of the week.

"It's not just the rape scene - the whole story is challenging Dakota as an actress," Fanning's agent, Osbrink, said.

"And I've never been so proud of her in my life. In every scene she gets better and better."

You are in the minority, Lzen. I don't go see them either, but many, many people do. And until the majority of moviegoers opt for better film fare, this is the garbage we're going to get.

Maybe if people would venture out of their comfort zone, they'd find something else worthwhile. If ... perhaps ... people were willing to read subtitles they'd realize that Americans don't hold a monopoly on good movies.

I am going to go out on a limb and say this is probably a lot about nothing. The controversey gives them all the free publicity. Personally I have no interest in paying money to get all pissed off. I wouldn't watch this for free.

Hollywood will do anything for a buck, however I don't imagine this movie will make a ton of money. And SINCE H-town will do anything for a buck, they will make the movies the audiences go to in droves. Which is why we get movies like Nightmare on Elm Street 13, Jason X, and Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift.

When LCD audiences demand better movies, the cinemas will deliver them.
FYI, the majority of people go to movies because they DON'T WANT TO USE THEIR MINDS.

Movies are an ESCAPE from the day-to-day rat race.

Like I said before, if I WANTED to use my mind, I'd read an f-in book.

Who is this movie being made for? What purpose does it serve?

My guess is you can't answer those questions.

If the answer to the problem is movie about a little girl getting raped, I'd rather be part of the problem.

Sure, child molestation is a serious problem. The answer to the problem is TO KILL THE fuckING CHILD MOLESTERS, not make movies about them.

OK, that's your opinion and it's a totally valid one. But there are a lot of people that don't think movies like this should be made -- or that they're bad if they are made -- simply because it's not "your" type of movie.

I will more than likely see this. Not because I'm a pedophile and I want to see a 12-year-old being raped, but rather because I like seeing movies that make me feel something other than happy. I like to use my brain in a movie... no, I love it.

I love being drawn into a film and made to feel what the characters are feeling. That's part of what made me want to make movies. I want to do that for people. I want to entertain them. I want to make people laugh and cry and make people mad. But most of all, I want to make people think.

You're absolutely right, I can't answer those questions. I haven't seen the movie. Can you answer them? Can you say it's worthless, exploitive and unnecessary, knowing ONLY that it contains a rape scene involving a 12-year-old girl?

And that right there is the center of your argument. To you, movie making is not only an art form, it's a MEANS TO LIVE.

For most of us, we sit in a cube all day and the last thing we want is to sit through a movie that makes us feel EXACTLY THE WAY SITTING IN A CUBE MAKES US FEEL.

No, the answer to the problem is not necessarily movies about little girls being raped, the answer to the problem is for closed-minded people to stop thinking their way is the only way.

A good story makes up for the visual. Jennie in Forrest Gump told me enough I needed to empathize with her character.

I was told about the movie "Zoo" featured at the Sundance Film Festival. Documenting sex with animals is another winner for the bundle of sticks filmmakers society. Funny, I understand that the documentist "gets it in the end."

exactly, no one can.

I can't believe how long this thread is.

damn, if they make the movie, count me in the category of not wanting to see it.

Also, I really believe in many personal liberties, but if you really think this falls into the lines of artistic expressions, then seriously consider seeing a psychologist, because it isn't right. The film makers could pass the scene very effectively, without any graphic rape sequences, and it wouldn't affect the storyline.

SICK SICK SICK,

Everyone that disagrees with my assessment, I have already read your opinion, several time is some of your cases, and I don’t need to hear it anymore.

Those that agree with me, stop feeding into the asses that think they are actually saying something. Many of them probably are just stirring the pot to get a reaction. But if an outsider is lurking today for the first day, I don’t want them to see this thread so long and getting so much attention, it’s bad for us all.

Let it go.
