Any thoughts on the potential ice storm this weekend?
This site seems to predict chaos and 2 inches of ice but I hope it's wrong.

I am very concerned when looking at the 12z EURO run from earlier today. Honestly I never seen max values being outputted on the EURO model before for Ice, so this is new to me. To say im concerned is an understatement. For anyone who understands icestorms and just how much can cause widespread impacts, all it takes is just .25 for power outages. If theres .50-.75 you are dealing with prolonged impacts, trees downed and extensive damage to power lines. Between 1.00-1.50 entire power grids become damaged. Widespread damage to trees. Roads impassable for days if not weeks. 1.50-2.00 power grids not only shut down but substations become damaged from the weight of ice accumulations building on transformers and pylons. Hard to imagine ice accumulating over 2inches. Once you get into these extreme values this is what you call a "catastrophic ice storm". Power grids can become damaged and take months to be fully repaired. So there is big time worries for central Oklahoma up to Ohio. We will be monitoring this potential and update when warranted. Anything can change, and if there is one forecast that I hope to god does not verify, this is the one.

long time season ticket holder I know called the Chiefs and was told the same thing.

I was in Arrowhead for a playoff game against Indy during an ice storm. They didn't change it then, won't this time either.

If you are landing in KC at that time tomorrow you should have zero issues. Talk around KC is that the smaller part of the storm will not start until after 3 PM tomorrow.

I hope so. My flight leaves at 5:45 AM Est and I land in KC at 9:45 AM. I'd like to take my kid to Dave and Busters around noon Friday so if we are stuck in Saturday that he's not going cabin crazy.

My school district just cancelled classes for tomorrow, so I thought about catching the 9:45am train tomorrow instead of Saturday.

Now, I'm seeing that the forecast has gotten worse yet again. ****ing Ice Storm Warning?

Accuweather doesn't think KC gets bad until late Friday. Traveling with a 7 year old has me all sorts of mentally ****ed up.
