What role in KC could Priest possibly play?
Lamar said he's hoping this guy could consider returning in 2007.
A guy who's lead the AFC in rushing yardage a time or two, a guy who spearheaded the league's most productive offense for five years, a guy who broke the record for rushing touchdowns in a year... What role could a guy like this possibly fit into on a team that has absolutely everything it needs from LJ? Replace Bennett, and get 10 runs a game, max? Would Priest settle for that? Use his superior blocking ability and sure-handedness at fullback, paving the way for LJ down the middle? Would Priest settle for that? No and no. Priest, for all his heart, understands that he is (was?) a marquee runner in the NFL. And all evidence of Priest's personality indicates that he wants to be the alpha dog, and vaporizes when that's not the case. Do we, therefore, have trade bait? Or can we fit Priest into a role that (a.) the Chiefs need his skills for, and (b.) Priest would be satisfied with? |
