For Oldtimers: LJ vs Okoye

I was watching the video posted by Nzoner (link here) of the Chiefs rolling the Bills in 1991 at Arrowhead against the SB bound Bills. Okoye was amazing.

Made me wonder - straight up - would you rather have LJ or Christian Okoye?

You young guys will not remember the Nigerian Nightmare - a 260 pound load of muscle, speed and heart.

I will add my all time fave Donnell Bennett to the poll...

That's easy!!!!!
Bennett had almost no juke, weighed 240, ran north and south behind his blockers, never fumbled, was a converted FB, and averaged over 4 YPC. The problem with Bennett was RBbC so he never got 25+ touches a game. Except when he was injured, Bennett ran like a plowing bull, beat defenders down and had ZERO ego. If Bennett had gotten 300+ touches, he would easily have been a 1400+ yd back behind the KC OL when it punished opposing defenses as a matter of Chiefs PRIDE.

He was a Rudy story for me so I loved the guy.

I agree with the posters that have said; LJ has more athletic ability, overall anyway.

But there is definetly something to be said for Okoye's "shut up and prove it" attitude.

Where is the "mix" choice?

LJ wins the edge, because he has some bruiser in him, and he has some priest in him, if only we could effect his attitude somehow......

Okoye was a beast every game. Johnson is a beast if things are going good for him. His pouting is getting old quickly. It would also help if he made an effort at blocking. He is going to get our QB killed one of these days.

Obviously if I was going to vote for best RB it would be Priest Holmes, although watching Okoye destroy opposing would-be tacklers was a blast.

I think the biggest thing was the way he wore down defenses by beating on them with his head and shoulders.
He broke a few long runs. After the thrashing of the Bills, KC played Miami at Arrowhead, and rolled to a 42-0 lead when Marino was pulled. Okoye had a 40-plus yard run on the first drive. KC won 42-7, because Miami's backup QB ran one in from the 2 or 3 yard line I think it was, very late in the 4th quarter.

LJ has more pure athletic ability hands down.

I loved the Nigerian Nightmare, but this shouldnt even be a discussion.

Alot of you guys are letting your personal bias's with LJ cloud your judgement.
