How many games do you give Thigpen?

how many games do you give him before you take a chance on him as the starter next year?

if he did and made the team at least competetive, you would have a Derrick Anderson situation (kinda). But they got to draft a QB next year no matter what. Huard will be gone, Brodie might be gone but cant be counted on if he isnt

Obviously that's as big an "if" as you can possibly get, but it's possible.

But you're talking about a guy completing 66% of his passes at a good YPC average with a couple TDs and no turnovers, and if he was to average something like that for the rest of the year, there's absolutely no doubt that he gets another year.

I think it depends on who is there when you pick. if someone falls in your lap you have to consider it. But if he plays like this the rest of the way, it eases the desperation a little.

Then give him the year after drafting a guy who can learn the game for a while.

You're not looking to start a rookie QB on day 1, are you?

Derek Anderson is laughing at you.

Derek Anderson didn't play nearly as well all year as Thigpen did today, nor did he do it in this shitty offense, nor the Browns spend a TOP-FIVE pick on Brady Quinn.

Maybe if someone slips and KC takes him with their second-rounder, but not top-five, in this scenario.

Yeah, I must have imagined the fact that he threw for almost 4000 yards, 30 Touchdowns and went to the Pro Bowl.

The Browns didn't spend a top five pick on him. They spent #22 and #36. That's equivalent value to the 9th or 10th overall pick.

<3800 yards and 29 TDs, nevermind 19 INTs, and everyone knew it was the system/surrounding talent.

You're missing the point. If the massive improbability that Tyler Thigpen keeps it up actually comes to fruition, the Chiefs simply ain't taking a QB with a TOP-FIVE pick, nor should they.

There's a 99.9 percent chance it's a moot point, but DE in particular will become a much bigger priority.

If Thigpen panned out for some reason we need to draft O-line first and foremost. Even if Thiggy doesn't I think you almost still have to draft O line first.

What good is someone like Bradford if he is broken?

huh?

of course you draft a QB in the first....the first time two decades that we'll have a shot at a top QB, and you'd pass because a 7th round pick played decent, but losing football in 8 games?

what is it with Chiefs fans?

you have to draft Stafford....period

anything else is idiocy...a will to suck...

but we'll hear every excuse under the sun why we should pass on the most important position to the franchise...

getting a QB is the only priority for this franchise...everything else is a distant second...

i can't even believe we're having this discussion, that's how insane it is

While McIntosh sucks and Herb doesn't appear to be the answer, RT is not as important as finding a legitimate pass-rusher.

What happens if we draft 2nd behind the Lions, and they take Stafford?

I like Stafford too, and maybe it won't come to that, but everyone's acting like that's a foregone conclusion, but there's still one team just about as bad as we are and they need a QB too.

You completely missed the point. If you could read, you'd already know I generally agree with your position on the QB debate.

But IF Thigpen was to keep going at a 66% rate with a good YPC average and a great TD:INT ratio, he deserves to play. We're talking about playing at a Pro Bowl level over eight games in a shitty offense for a shitty team.

It'd be different if the QB sitting there is Peyton Manning, and then you can take him despite the Pro Bowl play of your current QB. But Stafford is not even close. He's an $80 million risk, and IF Thigpen looked like a great young QB, you stick with him.

Context, for **** sake.
