Sac's Post Combine Chiefs Mock

1. Gabe Carimi, OT; Wisconsin: 6’7 ¼ “, 315 lbs.
- 2010 Outland Trophy winner, everybody’s All-American, four year starter at left tackle for the pro-style set Badgers. Went against potential first rounders Ryan Kerrigan, Adrian Clayborn and Cameron Heyward as well as practiced daily against J.J. Watt and kicked ass. Superb run blocker and a very good pass blocker. Athletic for his size and can get into the second level. Plays through the whistle and has a nasty demeanor. Can play either tackle spot at the next level.

2. Sam Acho, OLB/DE; Texas: 6'2", 262 lbs.
- Acho showed a good degree of athleticism and speed at the Combine and looks to be capable of moving to an upright position as a 3-4 OLB in the mold of recent former Longhorn defensive ends Sergio Kindle and Brian Orakpo. Winner of the Campbell Trophy (nations top student athlete), first team Academic All-American and second team Walter Camp as well as multiple leadership and sportmanship awards. Solid character and excellent on the field production.

3. Austin Pettis, WR; Boise State: 6’2 ½”, 209 lbs.
- Broncos all-time leader in receptions and touchdowns, Pettis has a knack for finding the end zone. Plays extremely long with superb hands and precision route running. Isn’t afraid of contact and will extend for the ball in traffic. Very good instincts once the ball is in his hands and heading up the field.

4. Ian Williams, DT; Notre Dame: 6’1 ½ “, 315 lbs.
- Williams is a self admitted run stopper that has suffered under three different defensive coordinators in the past four years. Very thick and stout, he’s very reminiscent of current Bills stud Kyle Williams in terms of build and play style. (A bit undersized for a 3-4 NT, but has the potential to kick ass in that scheme due to mind set, strength and tenacity.)

5. Zane Taylor, C; Utah: 6’3”, 313 lbs.
- First team All-conference, three year starter, four year first team All-Academic (conference), team captain. Strong, smart and experienced, Taylor has been a rock in the middle for two BCS game appearances. Is very nasty when the ball is snapped and can get to the second level. A very good leverage player as his three time all-state high school wrestling championships pays off in the trenches.

5. Evan Royster, RB; Penn State: 6'1", 228 lbs.
- The all-time rushing leader for the Nittany Lions, Royster isn't flashy or fast (4.65 40 at the Combine), but has been incredibly productive. A big back that has versatility and plays hard. Reminiscent of another productive, big school back that wasn't very fast that fell in the draft in Arian Foster.

6. Scott Tolzien, QB; Wisconsin: 6’2”, 212 lbs.
- Good pocket presence and can make nice throws under pressure. Not a huge arm, but is accurate and goes through his reads quickly. Has a lot of potential in a Haley system.

7. Dane Sanzenbacher, WR; Ohio State: 5'11", 185 lbs.
- Team MVP and Captain for the 2010 season. Willing to make the tough catch in traffic and has good focus. Is a very good runner after the catch and is precise in his routes. Smart and very instinctive. Ran a 4.59 40 at the combine.

Carimi is going to be an excellent RT or LG, doesn't have the feet to be anything special at LT. Look at him in drills, look at him on tape. In his kick-slide he will have trouble staying compact and I just don't think he'd fare too well against speed rushers consistently. He's also not a real natural knee bender by all accounts but I'm not so good at really seeing that myself.

Carimi would be the best possible selection we could make if we chose an OL in the first. It's not a home run pick, but it is defensible.

Sacc's obsession with always inserting a Mormon into the draft is ****ing preposterous.

If you are inferring to Taylor being a Mormon, I don't know if he is or not. I think he's one of the better centers in this draft though. Kirkpatrick got all the awards (Rimington) this season as TCU ended with a 13-0 record, but Taylor was generally regarded as the best center in the MW conference for the past couple of years.

Maehl potentially could be as there are a number of them usually on the Oregon roster, though I'm not sure.

I did put Austin Collie and Dennis Pitta on my mocks the past couple of years, and since they attended BYU, they probably were LDS, but, again, I'm not sure. I don't really care either. I thought that they were very good players that would have bettered the Chiefs roster.

As an agnostic, I'm pretty impartial to someone's religious affiliation.

Best player available that fills a roster need when they pick. Once you get past the elite players in this draft, who I feel are Peterson, Green and Miller, I think you go to a BPA as it relates to team need.

The top tier OT in this draft (Solder, Costanzo, Carimi, Sherrod and Smith) are very good. I don't think that any of them can be called elite, but they are very good with a high floor. Any one of those guys would be a better BPA than what potentially would be available at the other team need positions, such as WR, OLB, C, QB.

I understand that the many people around here don't seem to understand the importance of having a solid offensive line, for whatever reason. However, I'm just trying to be as objective as possible in evaluating what I see as talent gaps on the roster as it relates to the talent available in the draft when the Chiefs are selecting.

Given your proclivity for the magic underwear troop, I would have been shocked had you not had a short sleeve white dress shirt and black tie as your go-to daily garb.

No to pouncey. He isn't his brother. Not a center in the nfl. Even florida homers will tell you that

I'm okay with Carimi in the first at RT. And C Taylor in the fourth or fifth would be okay. Defensive players from TX worry me. NT Williams from ND would be okay but I think he goes higher than the fourth. I know it would piss a lot of people off on here but I believe we need at least two OL out of this draft, a C and ROT.
