Javier Arenas is one of the better nickle CB's in the league, and considering how this is a passing league i'm all for the pick. And not to mention he is 3rd in the league in punt returns on players who have returned at least 10. And that's pretty remarkable considering his long is only 37. You are brain dead if you would rather play Aaron Hernandez over a healthy Moeaki. He is way more complete then Hernandez or Jimmy Graham. Those two belong only in passing situations. Terrance Cody was screaming bust. He weighed in at 370 at Alabama's media day.. He hasn't exactly been the dominant NT we have been needing anyways I don't think it's out of the question that we have been in the top 5 drafting teams the last 2 years. |

You are not allowed to say anything good about anything the Chiefs do. It's the new black.

I'm grading only their rookie contributions and not their total worth as draft picks, because rookies may take a couple of years to get up to speed. But here goes on their rookie contributions:
1st round: WR Jon Baldwin - D-. He moves up from F because of that whole "I caught a safety" catch. He wasn't on the field at all for many weeks and he's dropped some very catchable passes. He's shown that he has the talent to be good, though, so I'm hoping he'll improve rapidly. 2nd round: OG/C Rodney Hudson. C-. We've seen very little of him, and he's undersized, but I'm hopeful that he'll seize a starting job next year. I wouldn't have expected him to win a starting job this year, but I had hoped he would. 3rd round: OLB Justin Houston. B. He won a starting job and after being lost for the first half of the season he appears to be gaining traction. I've like his game the last couple of weeks and have hopes that he'll ascend rapidly and become a heckuva player for us. 3rd round: DE Allen Bailey. C-. Doing about what I would expect a third-rounder to do, maybe a little less than I had hoped, but he's kind of a tweener in our system. 4th round: CB Jalil Brown. D-. The only times I've noticed him are when he's screwed up. Has he made a tackle on special teams yet? 5th round: QB Ricky Stanzi. C. About what I expect out of a late-round QB. He made the roster, and that's a victory. 5th round: OLB Gabe Miller. D. Seriously, where is he? Is he on the practice squad? 6th round: NT Jerrell Powe. C+. A sixth-round guy making the team and actually getting on the field on defense is pretty good, plus it seemed like he was holding his own. I'm hopeful for a fast ascent next year. 7th round: FB Shane Bannon. F. Probably too harsh, but I would expect him to at least make the team as a draft choice. Is he on the practice squad? It's funny that this was the dream draft of the collective of chiefsplanet and we're not seeing much impact. However, I do think there are some players on this list who are still ascending and can be good players for us. We just didn't get a whole lot at all this year.

I think if we can get a couple more drafts like the last 2 and we will be approaching a championship team IF we get a quality QB.

Standards have fallen if we're handing out A's and B+ for Jon Baldwin and Allen Bailey, who have both had one good game apiece.
Baldwin - C Hudson - B Houston - C Bailey - D Not gonna grade guys who aren't really playing. If Brown isn't in the rotation at corner next year he's a big fat F. Same for Powe at NT.

The only standards that are slipping here are the quality of gochiefs posts. How they manage to continue to fall is beyond me.

Not really. I think he will ultimately be a good head coach, but that doesn't mean there aren't other potentially good head coaches out there. Another difference is that, I am confident that Pioli will make a good selection for a new head coach if it comes to that. He seems to understand the value of leadership, and I'm confident he would be looking for someone who is all about team-building. (IE not McDaniels.)

Haley probably won't even be coaching in the NFL next season, unless he accepts a WR coaching position.

Its hard to grade a wr when our punter could throw him a more accurate pass than the qbs we have had.

How can anyone rate Stanzi above an I? He has not played in a single Chiefs' regular season game. Also, you can't rate his overall performance based on games he played in (preseason) that aren't crucial to whether or not the team makes the playoffs.
