I read that the IR/Designated to Return rule has also changed. Now you just put people on IR and then you can decide later who is DTR. You can still only pull one player back from IR during the season but in the past you had to make that determination when you put them in IR. Much more flexibility this way and hopefully we can make use of this if needed for Houston.

Broncos O-Line coaches need to actually work now. Their number 1 "technique" is now banned.

CHOP blocks are now illegal. CUT blocks are not. Every team in the NFL uses cut blocks, and they are absolutely key to certain plays so I wouldnt' expect them to go away anytime soon.

How does this discourage the kickoff? If anything it encourages kickers to go for the risk/reward with dropping the ball inside the 5 and forcing a return.

Probably a very minor impact, but this technically lowers the risk of an onside kick a little.

I expect the patriots jerseys to have the names across the middle of the back instead of the shoulders to increase their ability to receive horse collar yards in their favor

If they want this kick return scheme to work as intended, they might have to consider allowing a returner who fields the kick in the field of play inside the 10 yard line to retreat to the end zone for a touchback. That could foil the short kick strategy some folks are discussing.

I don't think they'd be wise to do away with kickoffs entirely. The league needs the possibility of the successful onside kick late in the game by the team that's losing.

Yeah, I actually agree with this. If you have no chance to start a drive (after a kickoff) anywhere beyond the 25, you prevent a lot of late game drama from even getting started.

RE: the personal foul change -- Does anyone know how many players, in let's say the last 25 years, have actually received 2 personal fouls in a game? Other than Burfict and OBJ, I can't recall many others. After those two incidents, I am all for this rule change but I saw Sherman crying about it and was really wondering why it would even be an issue for him.
