Bitch Eisen?

Very good?

Is this not the mentally devoid beta male that picked the ****ing Raiders to win the AFC West last year?

Eisen's credibility flushed immediately with that Bart Scott level take, but then you didn't have us winning the west with Juju Hardman and that other guy either, so I guess I can see why you'd say he's very good.

Call it trash talk from Rich Eisen, then. He put out a disclaimer that he's not trash talking the Chiefs or wishing them ill will, but he didn't do this shit for the Chiefs when we met the Patriots in Week 1 years ago. He didn't go, "Boy, how wonderful would it be for the Chiefs to upset the Patriots and their ring ceremony Week 1? Both for them and for the fans, eh?" I don't think he did that shit once during the Patriots dynasty.

I get it. It's the Lions, and they got the opening night game. Okay, cool. Just ask Hutchinson, "Hey, are you excited to play the Super Bowl champs week 1? How cool is that?" Do some follow-up questions about their preparation, what they see in the Chiefs, yadda yadda yadda.

Instead he does this, "Do you get HARD when you think about sacking Patrick Mahomes, man???!!!" bullshit and had like three different questions all pertaining to the possibility of them beating the Chiefs.

Let it be known that those kinds of upsets Week 1 usually occur when the SB team doesn't see the challenging team coming. They go, "Eh, this team is good, but we're better" and they don't realize just how ****ing focused and determined the other team is to make it a show in that game. Rich and a bunch of other assholes are now rah-rahing the Lions to death. They're not picking them to win, no, but they're hyping them up hardcore, complete with all the kneecap biting references. Alex Smith didn't get this kind of encouragement and love. People just said, "Welp, Chiefs are gonna get their shit kicked in" and left it alone.

KC is paying attention. We know they pay attention.

NFC chumps don't yet know that talking trash to the Chiefs is the wrong approach. You want to catch the Chiefs sleepwalking through a game, which they have been known to do sometimes. Encouraging the Chiefs to be motivated and focused is the last thing you want to do.

The Chiefs will be hoisting a Lombardi and unveiling a banner. The crowd will be electric. They ain't sleepwalking through this one.

Could be some truth to it. We have two new offensive tackles. May take some getting used to the scheme and Patrick becoming comfortable with them.

The regular season is just an 18-week practice period for us these days. Barring major injury issues, we WILL make the playoffs. Other teams can act like their regular season games against us are their Super Bowl, and that's fine. All that matters is how well we're playing when we get to January.

I mean, I'd prefer to host the Sixth Annual Patrick Mahomes Invitational, but I get your point.

Historically, if you're going to beat the Chiefs, your odds are better in Sept than in any other month of the season. Problem is, Andy is 4-1 in Week 1 as the Chiefs HC, the one lone loss coming back in 2014, so it's been awhile.

But DET could do it. They finished the season last year 8-2 over the last ten weeks of 2022, and their defense, the real reason they didn't finish with a better record, really seemed to come on after Week 7 or so. They have a legit running attack, an improving OL, and some real receiving weapons over there. They ain't your dad's Lions anymore.

I think the Chiefs still win their opener, but DET probably will make it interesting. Coaching and experience will make the difference.

EDIT: Obviously, that should be 9-1 in Week 1 as KC's HC. Inexplicable typo, my bad.

Whatever. Point remains, Andy doesn't lose in Week 1 very often at all. But the odds are better for opposing teams in Sept vs. any other month f the regular season. So there's a chance. A tiny almost insignificant one, but it's there.
