Bucs not planning to extend Josh Freeman
http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com...mans-contract/
According to Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay Times, the Bucs won’t be extending Freeman’s contract, which expires after the 2013 season. And as Stroud explains it, the decision not to sign Freeman to a new deal could be part of a plan by coach Greg Schiano, who inherited Freeman, to get his own quarterback. And Freeman may change Schiano’s mind only by playing so well this season that Freeman leaves the Bucs with no other option than to use the franchise tag or sign him to a long-term deal. One possibility would be to apply the non-exclusive tag and to see if anyone is willing to sign Freeman to an offer sheet and give up a pair of first-round picks. That would enable the Bucs to pull a reverse Keyshawn, giving up a player and getting two first-round picks 14 years after they gave up two first-round picks to get Keyshawn Johnson from the Jets. The Bucs likely would settle for less, since the alternative will be to let Freeman walk away. |

No to Josh Freeman.
I want Geno. The time for this team to snatch up other teams garbage is hopefully over. |

If they offered Freeman, #13, and next years first I'd start listening, but it would still take more. Going by the draft value chart the #1 pick is 3000 points... #13? 1150. An equal 2nd round pick? 450 points. 1400 points = #8. Freeman is not worth a #8. |

Hypothetically if you are exchanging firsts for Freeman I don't understand the uproar. Freeman is 24 and can make all the throws. He would probably be the most talented QB Andy Reid has ever coached. It's pretty much like taking a QB first round, and still having a decent first pick. He is by no means a failure. He's been on some pretty awful teams. He has the type of issues that can be fixed. People calling him Cassel are borderline reeruned. Apples and Oranges.
This is all rumor any way, but if Reid made that call I would be comfortable with it. It would tell me he thinks Freeman is better than any QB in the draft which I don't find all that crazy. I don't see Tampa making this move because I don't see how it benefits them. However, if they do so be it. I trust Reid more than any message board blowhards. Lets remember most of you wanted Sanchez and Clausen. Everyone can hit or miss whether its fans or the Pros. Let Reid make the evaluation and live with it. Unless its Cassel then feel free to melt the **** down. Just for the record I want to take Geno 1, but I'm not going to invest the time researching it like Andy Reid will in the upcoming months. My biggest comfort is Scott Pioli is not making the call, and a real coach will be developing them. |

I tell you one thing for damn sure.
I'll take Freeman over any QB not named Geno coming out, and not worry two shits about it. FOR DAMN SURE SON

That would not even be a little bit tempting. Freeman is of so little value, relative to the first pick, I'd only consider maybe swapping 2nd's or maybe our 2nd for their 3rd.

No way I give the top pick for Freeman. That would be foolish.
