The "Official" Cardinals Discussion Thread.

Figured that if we had one thread to discuss Cardinals "stuff" it would be easier to find. What do you think? Good idea?

Hey if the Cards can't win it this year I'd have no problem with the Brew Crew winning it all...By the way who do you think the Brewers will keep out of Sabathia, Sheets and Fielder? Aren't they all 3 free agents after this year?

Crap.

Bullpen scares me.

Listening to the commentators talk about the bullpen scares me even more.

Fielder hasn't been around long enough to be a FA, but I think he is arbitration eligible this year.

You sure?

2008
Unable to come up with an agreement for a long-term contract with the Brewers, Fielder and his agent, Scott Boras, signed a one year, $670,000 deal with the Brewers. Fielder was quoted saying, "I'm not happy about it at all," showing his disappointment in not being able to reach an agreement with the club.

Positive. In baseball you have 3 years where you basically have to take whatever the team wants to pay you, then two (maybe three) more years where you can go to arbitration, before you become an outright free agent.

Lack of a f'n pen causes Lohse to stay out too long and lose the lead

Yep, Lohse was out of gas. But Tony's old mother hubbard in the pen, so he had no choice but to stick with him.

It's his own ****ing fault he can't trust the 'pen.

He pulls guys when they're pitching great, based on righty/lefty matchups, which usually ends with the next pitcher getting shelled.

Or, he sticks with guys, like Isringhausen, that haven't given ANY reason to earn that loyalty.

I've always thought TLR got a bad rap in this town, but his management of this pitching staff is making me think otherwise.

Isringhausen has gone out of his way to prove he can't pitch worth a shit, tey TLR keeps running him out there.

Christ, give the closer role to McClellan for a month and be done with it. Isringhausen and Franklin have proven they can't handle it, and Wainwright and Looper are to important to the rotation to move them to the pen, IMO.

McClellan can't handle the closer role either, he's still conditioned as a starter. Have you ever noticed he gets rocked when pitching on the second consecutive day, but does good when he has rest?
