Bearman got screwed. That's twice a driver has been eliminated from quali this season due to an officiating error.
How about Williams though? P6+P7 on a weekend without upgrades. |

Good race today. Pirelli finally made the right call and a couple safety cars kept it interesting.
I could've lived without the full SC late in the race (think it cost Ferrari a point; they had 4/5 in the cards, IMO). But the tire packages created some really good strategy decisions and tire offsets that created action all over the track. Well...except for the very front. But man, Max earned that position and then some. What a baller move in T2. And what a cock-up by Piastri. Just a completely unforced error; concentration lapse, IMO. Or simple hubris. You can NEVER expect Max to take it easy in the first lap. Piastri had to expect that. Reminds me of when Leclerc got caught napping vs Piastri last season (and frankly, probably cost Ferrari the Constructors). These cars are soooooo close now that you have to be locked in at every turn, especially in the first lap.

The safety cars ruined the race completely.

Well done by Norris. That was the best Monaco race in a while. They should add a mandatory two-stop to every race.

Verstappen: Still a petulant child.
Hamilton: Still very, very, very mid. WTF, Lewis? It's a Sauber. It can't pass you on the outside and you don't even bother to position your car coming into the turn? You just give him the damn inside lane? It looked like Hamilton didn't expect a move at all and by the time he realized what was happening, he'd have had to move under braking and face a potential penalty. But...why? Why not just assume the move was coming and position yourself on the inside to close off the dive and make him take it around the outside where you can easily pull out on exit? Hamilton is just so damn indifferent. He never does ANYTHING. Doesn't defend, doesn't attack. He just drives in circles. He's an unbelievably mediocre driver at this point in his career. You watch someone like Alonso in a genuine tractor out there putting moves on and defending like his life depends on it when the situation calls for it. And it's not like Alonso is a grinder -- that guy will absolutely quit on a race when he's not feeling it. But when he's in it, he's going to battle. The Ferrari isn't a GREAT car, but it's a car that has them capable of fighting with anyone but Mclaren and ****ing Hamilton just won't do it. We only have him for a year after this one, right? I mean I'm not a huge Bearman fan but I'm going to be more than happy to see the end of the Hamilton era. This guy just does nothing to impress me at all. You just see LeClerc being obviously better than him every single week and you see what the difference in pure ability these guys have at the moment.

Went to the F1 race in Imola a few weeks back. I had zero background on F1 but took my nephew for his 22nd birthday since we were in Italy. Absolutely loved the experience and can see the appeal. Max is his favorite driver so pretty neat to see him get the victory. The Ferrari crowd was pretty fun as well.
