Report: Raiders tab Derek Carr as starting quarterback

The Raiders are going with a rookie at quarterback to begin the regular season.

Fox’s Jay Glazer reports the Raiders have switched starters in advance of Sunday’s opener at the Jets, with Derek Carr getting the nod over Matt Schaub.

According to Glazer, players have been informed of the decision.

The call to go with Carr comes after the second-round pick from Fresno State completed 11-of-13 passes for 143 yards and three TDs in the preseason finale vs. Seattle. Schaub sat out the game with elbow soreness.

Schaub, whom the Raiders acquired from Houston in the offseason, was just 24-of-47 passing for 218 yards with no touchdowns and one interception in exhibition play. He was sacked three times.

Raiders have many many problems but the one position they are set at is at QB.

Reggie McKenzie is a horrible GM.

He's made trades and assumed stupid salaries for multiple QBs who don't even start, hired (then fired) his first head coach in less than three years, and has pretty much mismanaged the entire roster from top to bottom.

Well the Raiders lost again in typical Derek Carr fashion. Here was the formula for last Sunday: Play like anus, commit turnovers with dumb throws, get down by a ton of points, and dump it down for the rest of the game. His best plays were watching McFadden do something Casey Printers could not.

Even with garbage time..... <200 yards, 4.7 YPA, 8.1 YPC

Holy ****ing shit! Awful ****ing QB.

Already flushed a winning season down that shithole stadium of theirs and is only one game away from Brodie Croyle status.

Dump-it Derek is a loser.

Warner (I'm not sure if he was drafted by the Rams)
That Ravens guy2002

Drafting a QB and developing him is the way to go. The Raiders are trying to do this. To claim Carr is a loser after 8 games is kinda premature.

through out the NFL everyone agrees the only bright spot the Raiders have is him. The kid is a rookie driving a Hugo with 3 bald tires and a flat. He is competing in the best situations with Ford Mustangs and worst case QBs driving a Ferrari. This ranks as one of the silliest thing's I have read in awhile. Warner was undrafted and Replaced Green (Chiefs retread). Green was lighting it up on that Rams team as well before Warner took over.

All you folks laughing at Carr & the Raiders should just know that Alex Smith needs to play like Warner or the Chiefs def has to play like the 09 saints or the 02 Ravens.

You Chiefs fans can't even remember when the last time you drafted a QB in rounds 1 or 2. It's simple math unless you believe in miracles.
