No. What it comes down to is protecting your bullpen over the course of a full season.

Reality is that relievers can't be asked to make more than 65-70 appearances in a season and have any sort of shelf life. You can't run a guy out there 100 times unless he's a LOOGY or has an extremely special/rubber arm.

With Herrera and Davis both coming off of 70 IP seasons, the Royals do need to be especially conscious about how much they're used early in the season. Relievers who are making 70+ appearances routinely tend to burn out pretty quickly.
