I saw it and it's been a while since a movie made me laugh out loud that much. I know it is stupid and you have to accept some pretty out there plot points to roll with the action movie part of it, but the characters are so sweet and funny, I just accepted it and enjoyed. I think it might actually be a cleverly disguised chick flick.

So I was looking through my DVD's last night and decided to pop in Nighthawks with Stallone,Rutger Hauer, and Billy Dee Williams since it had been quite some time since seeing it.
Doesn't hold up too bad for a 25+ year old movie,a couple of minor holes here and there but still quite entertaining, and the subject matter of terrorism on American soil definitely hit a little closer to home.

I watched Sunshine last night, the sci-fi flick with Cillian Murphy. I thought it was quite good, although there were flaws. But, the visuals alone made this a worthy watch for me. The transition 2/3rds of the way through the movie didn't really flow, and seems to be the primary complaint by reviewers. I would recommend it though, as I stayed pretty locked in throughout the movie.

Last night I decided on Clay Pigeons, one of my favorite dark comedies starring Juoquin Phoenix,Vince Vaughn and Jeanne Garaffalo(sorry for the sp?).Probably my favorite Vince Vaughn role as he plays Lester Long an outgoing yet strange cowboy with a secret.
I won't give any spoilers because if you like these actors and you like dark comedy, put this movie at the top of your list.

None other than Jamie Gillis, the pornstar of years past,I thought that was interesting with Stallone's past and all.

I watched "Son of Rambow" with my 10 yr old son tonight. (Yeah, a bit early. It comes out on DVD August 26th)
I liked it, he absolutely loved it. It's a bit slow in the middle... but the ending was great. Sappy as hell, but worth it. Synopsis: Quote:

Thats too bad. Franco, Rogan and Apatow go all the way back to "Freaks and Geeks". Great show if you have never seen it.

Tropic Thunder
great ****ing movie, funniest and smartest since South Park...Stiller's best there are moments when the movie is totally unhinged...that is so rare, when the absurdity seems to overtake the movie....the last 40 minutes were awesome, each character simply losing their minds, but in unison.... Downey's performance is god damn brilliant, imo...his expressions are priceless, his face shifts constantly...all those close-up scenes at the camp at the end, when the actors are in the dark and only lit by a faux-camp fire light are great, and Downey just freaking off the hook, he deserves a nomination, honestly he makes everything look easy, but think how hard that role was to do without simply becoming racist blackface..... Downey is the best actor living, i think...hope he stays off drugs and starts cranking out movies....

compare the fight scene, and the character development, at the end of Tropic Thunder and Pineapple Express to understand just how one movie is brilliant and one is basically a hack job b-movie....
