He's had razor sharp fastball command today and just got beat by his worst pitch because he's braindead.

Just a terrible, terrible decision from Rosenthal to throw that pitch. If you come out there and you don't have your heat, sure - try to find something that works. Try to fool them if you need to.

But a first pitch breaker from a guy that doesn't really throw curveballs is just the highest form of idiocy. You do not do that in a 1-run game and you do not lose on your worst pitch. Stupid stupid stupid pitch sequencing.

Apart from holding the bat upside down, I'm not sure there's anything else he can do to make himself less powerful. It's the most insanely self-destructive thing I've seen by a ballplayer since Marquis insisted on being a 4-pitch pitcher.

Nope.

I've followed him pretty closely since he's been a rookie as a pure baseball fan because he's a fascinating prospect. He's one of those guys like Stanton in that his body should not be as athletic as it is at that size. I really thought this guy was going to be unreal.

And I've noted since he first came up that he's always had a reason for disappointing. It was a thumb injury or the HBP or the lineup change, etc, etc...; he's always explained away his struggles. And all the while he's constantly been tinkering.

I'm hard on him because he pisses me off as a baseball fan. I want him to be Bryce Harper. I want him to go out there and play like he's the most talented man alive because he's not far from that. I want him to be as good as his talent says he can be and I wanted that before he was a Cardinal. Now that he's a Cardinal he's simply putting my level of pissed off into overdrive.
